Hi all!

My MINI has accrued a small handful of rattles/noises and I seek your help to identify them here... 40,000 miles, 2010

1. Squeaking from underneath center console (e-brake) area when driving around 70 on freeway. I originally thought it might be the exhaust hangers, but checked them and they're fine.

2. Rattle from door lock area on driver's side. Goes away when I lock the doors.

3. Another rattle on the driver door, goes away when I touch the speaker. HK sound system, if that matters. I think this one and #2 might be best solved by taking off the door panel and investigating, but thought I'd ask first.

4. Rattle coming from (I think) the sunroof/cabin light area. Any ideas? Has the glass panorama roof...

5. Lastly, rattle coming from rear hatch area, but I think its the privacy flappy thingy because I don't notice it when it's removed (when seats are folded down to carry big things, for example).

Sounds like a normal r56 to me. I'm not sure about the first rattle you have but 2-3 are issues that can be solved by taking the door panels off and dynamatting the crap out of them. I bought a a different cap piece for the the locking indicator thing that's at the top of the door from out motoring that fixed it's annoying rattle. The sun roof needs to be adjusted every so often or you hear squeaks and rattles from the frame. The rear hatch rattle could be from the little U shaped piece that goes into the latch when you shut the boot. I wrapped mine in electrical tape and it fixed that issue. You will eventually get a rattle in the top part of the dash that's really annoying to try and fix. That happened around 54k for me. Still attempting the top dash piece when I have time cause it's annoying
