Best all-around brake pad for street and track?

Ok so for VERY occasional track days, like maybe once or twice a year, what is a good brake pad to upgrade to, along with high temp brake fluid, and everything else being stock that will help avoid brake fade on the track but still be decent on the street (ie: not loud and not a stupid amount of dust)?

Was looking at the EBC Yellowstuff but open to any and all feedback.

There are a lot of people who run the Yellow Stuff pads. Another option is the Hawk HPplus. Either of those should do ok for an occasional tracker. The MINI brake fluid is actually pretty good, it just needs to be fresh (up to a couple months depending on the organization you are going with. An upgrade would be the ATE amber.
Enjoy...

IMO the HP+ squeak a little too much for DD use. We are running the yellowstuff pads and have been happy. They do squeak occasionally on the street but it tends only to happen at certain braking forces. For example, braking at 20% produces squeaking but breaking at 10% or 30%+ doesn't.

Any of the high temp fluid should work. I use Motul RBF600 in the STI. Don't forget with high temp brake fluid you have to completely flush/replace the brake fluid EVERY YEAR at minimum. FWIW we're using the factory brake fluid in the mini with the EBC yellowstuff pads for now.

Either Hawk HP+ or Carbotech AX6.

EBC Yellowstuff and Motul RBF600 worked well for me. The Yellowstuff pads are pretty dusty though so I swapped back to stock for the street.

Any recommendations for brake grease to use for the back side of the pads and the pad retainer clips? There's the little packet that comes with the pads but that gets used up on the pad install, I need a tube of something to use for swapping back and forth.

Any auto parts store will have brake anti-squeal compound.

Carbotech would recommend not using the AX6 on the track as they are a pad designed for autocross and will overheat on the track. They make an XP 8 that is not overly aggressive. I have run the XP10 on the street with little noise and they are a fantastic track pad.

I used OEM pads until we got fast enough that wear became a problem. MINI even replaced them for us under maintenance program. Once wear became a problem (like 1 day per set of pads), I moved to Yellowstuff. Now we're having wear issues with Yellowstuff, so I'm trying BlueStuff hopefully.

I swap in pads for track use now, and then swap back to OEM once we're done.

Try Redstuff or Greenstuff by EBC. You won't regret it. Good luck!

Ok, so now I have a rainbow of choices. Yellow, blue, red, green. LOL. I am leaning towards EBC so here is what I want. I track the car like once per year. All I want is something BETTER than OEM. I dont need a crazy unbelievable track pad. Like I said, just better than OEM. But overall, silent and no more dust than OEM on the street. So which color am I looking for for that?

Seems like redstuff might be way to go.
