Do the ECU remap packages im seeing on the website require the ECU from my car to be sent to you for the mapping, or do you send an actual chip to be installed? sorry for the level of newbness but im looking for the most safe and secure way to make power gains, and your Stage packages seem ideal

do the ECU tunes that come with the stage kits require me sending you my ECU to remap or does it come with a chip that you plug in and the car adjusts itself? sorry if my questions seem newbish, but its my first mini and i want the safest and most effective way to make gains, thanks for taking your time to answer my questions!

Easy peasy. They send you a cable you connect your car to your laptop read your ECU email that file they send you an email containing your tune reconnect laptop flash car. Job done.

If you can down load photos from emails, figure out how to start these cars. You can surely learn how to flash the ECU. You'll be fine. No worries.

FYI,

For those of us with only 91 octane available, a 93 octane + rating can be achieved through a few options:

1) Per Terry at BMS: 20-30% E85 in the tank will achieve a 93 octane rating.
2) Race gas mix: I live in CO so 91 is the highest rating but there are quite a few race gas dealers. About 20-30% race gas will achieve 93+ octane rating (about 2.5-3 gal will do the trick).
3) Torco Unleaded Acclerator: http://www.torcousa.com/torco_product/un_acce.html

Just in case any were holding out due to their state octane grade maximum there are easy options to achieve 93+octane.

So aside from a bunch of bolt on airflow products, and obviously the suspension upgrades, whats out there for the N18, ive done alot of looking on parts sites, and ive come across things like the "Sprint Booster" which sound like it at least makes the car more fun to drive, but i havent seen much in the way of actual plug and play tunes. I know i can add all the airflow in the world and reduce airflow restriction, but it wont do much good unless the car is tuned properly, no?

Also im curious, what are the options for putting a BOV on my mini? i used to have the HKS SSQV on my turbo'd scion tc and it was the best sound in the world, whats out there to get that sexy hiss when i shift!

You aren't going to find much in the way of BOVs for the MINI like the HKS because the MINI operates on a closed, recirculating system. So it has to see the boost being re-entered into the intake system or it'll throw codes. Try looking at Forge's systems for the closest to a BOV.

Currently we are still in the development stage of the N18. We are working hard to develop hardware and tunes for it, but it takes some time and many other projects have taken precedence on it. As soon as I have a update for you I will provide them to the NAM N18 Members

Hi Alex,
A new hardware is needed for the N18 that is deferent from the N14?
And yes if you will be on time with an ECU tune for the N18 you will hit the market big time.

The ECU is encrypted differently supposedly and makes it hard to tune via the OBDII port, many places are doing bench tunes but that requires opening the DME and your dealer doesn't like that

I'm in for the tune. 2012 JCS.
Would it be possible to have this tune activated/ deactivated by the Sport button?

Recently a issue occurred where one of our de-cats did not fit properly and were not cleaned. We had a production meeting and all concerned issues were taken care of.

What is pricing on the exhaust? Looks like you guys are making some nice products. When I saw it described as a cat back, I thought it was just a rear section (like the JCW tuning kit).

Any update on the high flow downpipes?

Have fun,
Mike

received mine last week. Installed yesterday without any issue. About 3200 rmp, this thing just rip. It's a tad bit louder but when you floor it, it's can get loud. I have this with stock JCW exhaust. During the installation, i didn't have to force it or anything, just direct bolt on. But man those bolt for the heat shield, they are a biatch!!

Now what people say about losing some low end torque, it's true. I think a tune will do fine. Currently my car have an access port running on jcw stage 1 (91 octane) with FMIC.

Alex, you have some nice gear. After the first of the year I hope to order one of your catless DP, DP back exhaust, intercooler, and tune. Hopefully after hearing from all your happy customers there will be another group buy in the future. I just bought my R56 on a whim and with Christmas coming up. . . have to take care of my kids and my Grandson first. Hadn't really planned to change anything, until I started to read this forum. Now I'm thinking of selling a truck to buy more parts. Never ending cycle.
