Okay! I bought a JCW Engine!

I just sent payment. 8k 2011 JCW motor on it's way! Going into my 2007 R56 with bad engine (spewing oil from multiple blown seals).

Now I need a better turbo, PCV rerouting, water/meth, blow-off, downpipe, and ECU tune!

Any suggestions? I am hoping to have this together in a couple weeks. Current car is stock MCS, my motor will have exhaust manifold, but no turbo. Very excited!

Looking for cool running, 225 hp, daily driver.

You paid 8K, or it has 8K miles on it? this is very cool, i have an 07 myself and would be interested in doing somthing like this when my engine eventually goes.(hopefully not for awhile). keep us posted on your progress and post pics! good luck!

Was your old turbo bad? You probably don't need an upgrade to hit your power target, but maybe putting a JCW turbo on would be a nice upgrade? There are other experts, look through the Drivetrain Modifications sections for similar builds.

I am happy with the accessport, but there are other options available for tuning, see if someone is local to you.

Have fun,
Mike

I thought the same thing initially, that he paid 8k for a JCW motor, but after reading it over, I believe it's a JCW motor with only 8k miles

Right, it was 8k on the engine... Which means it's hopefully not carboned up yet. My current turbo is ok, but it has 160k miles, so I think it's worth replacing, especially if I can get a big boost in performance.

thats awesome! i cant wait to see how this progresses. you could always send your turbo to GPop and have it rebuilt too.

Congrats this should be an exciting build to follow. I've been saving for either a full rebuild or a jcw crate motor as well. My first question would be about your tranny/clutch. Do you have an LSD and do you have a staged clutch? I would recommend both for what you're aiming for.
As for the turbo, I'd agree you're best off with either a JCW turbo or a GPop Shop rebuild of your old one (a mere $600-700). As for the Blowoff, stick with the stock diverter valve or a Forge Recirc valve if you need it. I tried the Forge and had more problems with it than success (but I'm led to believe mine was faulty; this is just my experience,) so I'm back to the stock diverter valve with an uprated spring, handles the pressure fine.
Still haven't had money for water/meth and whatnot so no input there. Good luck!

alta makes a mechanical diverter valve that runs off your boost port too.

How do you like your GPop turbo?
