stupid armrest

Has anyone found a way to keep our stupid armrests closed? I almost want to glue the damn thing shut but that would negate the whole 3 cubic inches of storage...

Ideas anyone?

I drilled a hole in the back of it and put a long screw there.

I am much happier with no storage and it not opening up on me constantly.

Not true. Mine has become so loose it slides back with any acceleration. Sh*t drives me insane.

When not touching it? that sucks. You can replace it if its so sloppy. One of mine was replaced under warranty.

Lol yeah. It's literally so loose now that if I'm accelerating even somewhat quickly it just slides itself all the way back hahah. I'm far out of warranty so not really sure what I'll do about it. Don't know if its worth buying another one vs just drilling it shut, I don't really use it for storage. Meh, we'll see.

Stupid armrest

Had the same problem. I placed two strips of electricians tape at th front of the arm rest rails and has worked for me. I can still use my three cubic inches and have the arm rest closed. Try it, it may work for you too!!!!

Just pull it out, Caleb. I've never had one nor have I ever found myself needing one.

Yeah, I'll fold it back for a while and see, but I've become pretty accustomed to resting my right elbow on it in traffic etc. Might just go ghetto and tape it for now.

Thick double sided 3M tape with the red peel off strip stuck down along the inner edge where the top and bottom meet. Problem solved...or just get rid of the danged thing.

I've thought about wedging a piece of foam rubber inside. I'd like mine to stop opening too. It would also be nice if the cover never popped off. Really not a great design.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll have to try the heat gun one, if that fails I might just hot glue it, that way I can just cut the glue off if I want to ever open it again. Super glue is just too permanent.

Coincidentally, i just fixed mine two days ago... I just put two strips of blue painters tape in the slots on the top part and it feels great now.

The only problem left is that it droops and hits the e-brake when engaged.
