Hood scoop question

Took my BRG 07 MCS out on Saturday on a nice hour long drive to friends wedding in So Cal on Saturday. Parked the car at the hotel, and slight sag in the edge of hood scoop . I'd love to forgo replacing it, but it doesn't look like there are any proven DIY repair methods. I've been out of warranty for a few years, so the dealership won't be a help. I guess the next step is finding the best/cheapest replacement. I got a walnut blasting and a time chain guide replaced last week (timing chain is intact thank god!), so funds are a little low at the moment.

Has anybody been able to repair their scoops? Or know of any replacements I can get at a moderate price? If I could find another BRG scoop for <$300 i'd be pretty happy.

Also, I found some carbon fiber ones on ebay. Anybody have any pictures a BRG mini with a black scoop? Mine's got a black top, black racing stripes, and I recently put on some all black wheels. A black scoop might look pretty mean. I'd prolly start plasti-dipping the chrome parts to black shortly after

Try here. I bought one primed ($95ish after discounts) and then had it painted at a local shop ($110). Cheaper that way

Just buy the JCW carbon one, and call it a day.

I've tried to repair them with little success, removed and used heat gun. Better but not perfect. Mine has been replaced twice under warranty. The Mini heat shield that was installed with the first replacement did nothing, had to replaced scoop again less than a year later.

My little brotner replaced his with a M7 hood scoop. He has a Lightning Blue 08 R56 and it looks wicked in black. Can't see why it wouldn't look good on yours... just my two cents....

Are you going to paint it black or just get one and Plasti-Dip it? I had that on my R56 and liked it, but to each their own. If you choose to PD it, PM and I will hook you up with a deal on my never used DS one.

I was at a new car show this weekend and noticed that the 2013 Mini Ss had a full sheet of insulation under the hood with some having a small section directly above the turbo in metal. That's what it's come to, full hood insulation. Hood scoop is now completely worthless, no air comes in or goes out. Wonder how much that costs?

that looks a lot different than my 2013 R56 Cooper S. I got no insulation at all.
Noticed the hood right behind the scoop gets too hot to touch even after a short drive, its pretty crazy.

I noticed not all the S models had it either . Not sure how they decide which ones get it and which don't but it's not the first time Minis have a part and other don't. Mini has a history of not installing the same basic stuff on all cars. Maybe it's a British thing...
