"Service" Indicator

My nearly year old MCS has about 18,900 miles on it. I did the 15k service, but now the Service light has come on at startup indicating I've gone 900 miles without doing something I evidently should have done. I've been ignoring it longer than I should, but it appears to go up in 100 mile increments at a slower rate than which I'm driving.

I rotate my own tires and change my own oil. I'd really rather avoid taking it to the dealer for something I can do faster myself. I've been through the manual and can't seem to figure out exactly what "Service" is required. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Did you reset the counter when you did your oil change/15k service?

The dealer reset it at the 15k service.

The service info in the menus should tell you which service is due.

The way it works on my 07S:

tab the OBC (turn-stalk button press) to 'set-info' then press and hold

you'll see CHECK-INFO, tab one time and see SERVICE-INFO - press and hold

the service item will come up, and you can then tab thru them

It's in the owner's manual . . .

RTFM -- I got it, but appreciate the help.

I downloaded the manual from the owner's lounge and I swear that it wasn't in there (p/n 01 40 2 903 935). My MCS doesn't have the center computer display which I guess only comes with the nav system.

this stuff all comes up in the 'tach' display if you don't have nav

the last owner's manual I have access to is for an 09 ... but from 7 thru 9 they didn't move much

you want the section 'controls' ... then about the 'computer' which all MCS have ...

service info actually can appear in multiple menu choices so you need to review the entire section.

The 2012 manual I got from the Owner's Lounge only has the nav listed, not the onboard computer. I forgot about that. The 2011 manual I got from the owner's lounge does have the onboard computer steps. It should also be in your paper manual (but that's less convenient).

You could see if the 2011 manual is still available on the OL, not much has changed 2011-2013.

Mystery solved. I'm due for a front brake inspection in 900 miles. Interesting that the interval has lengthened over the last few weeks. Guess I've been a little more mellow lately. I finally found my printed manual and it was different than the one available in the Owner's Lounge.
