Very nice! I'd love to take mine (or my "other car") there some day!

That's sweet. I would love to take my car on the Nürburgring. Kind of a long trek from Texas.

Very cool.

Nice. Did you test the top end? How fast did you get it up to?

It was a lot of fun. I've only taken it up to 125 mph so far. I want to hit the 144 mph limit before it's time to take it to the US in December.

This is a hypothetical question since I will most likely never go there and if I do, good old Rupert Roadster won't be with me on the trip, but exactly what is involved in getting to drive on the Ring?

If you go on the rings website they have days where they are open to the public, and there is a quite a few of them. I believe it is 25 euros per lap, so about $30

I have a US spec R56 in Germany as well. I've heard that ours isn't speed limited, since it was delivered to Germany. Any one else heard or tested this?

I have noticed that mine does not have DRL, which I thought was a stand thing in 2010?

If its a tourist drive day, you turn up, pay the fee and drive.

We drove our hire car around the ring a couple of years ago:

I never had a real desire to go to Europe, but now that you gave me the hire car idea, I think I'm beginning to develop an urge.

You just show up during the tourist drive times, which can be found on their website, and pay 26 euro per lap or 95 euro for four laps. That's it! It's crazy! and fun!

That doesn't sound right to me. I'll let you know when I get a chance to safely take it to 144 mph. Maybe next week.

As far as the DRL's, you can turn them on/off in the key settings section of the computer. Along with changing a host of other things like the amount of times the turn signal flashes (1x or 3x) or the locking system setting (I have mine set to lock the doors once I start driving).
