R56 10,000 Mile Service - 2012 R56?
10,000 Mile Service - 2012 R56?
My 2012 is about at 10,000 miles now and when I took delivery my OBC stated 15,000 miles for service, but the window sticker said 10,000 miles. My MA said that i should still be able to get my service at 10,000 miles, they just hadn't updated the software yet.
So I called Motorcity MINI yesterday and was told that I am not eligible for 10,000 miles, that didn't start until 2013. I called Ask MINI and was told the same thing, so what the heck is going on?
I'm slightly annoyed that my window sticker shows one thing and I am being denied it.

When we got the new JCW our MA said the service interval was down to 10k, but the computer started at 15k. We never did get any answer about that, but I'm not expecting it to make a difference to us, we always get the yearly oil change, not when the computer counts down.
my 03/2012 build 2012 cms all4 started at 9,000 miles on the OBC countdown, as i have driven the CMS, it has fallen faster than the actual mileage and will, as of now, reach 0 at 8,100 miles and will be my third oil/filter change
my dad liked my cms all4 so much that he bought a used 09/2011 build demo 2012 cms all4 2 weeks after i got mine ... it had 2,600 when he bought it miles and the OBC countdown showed 12,000 miles to go until the oil/filter change
i changed his oil right away and again at 5,000 miles
dad's car just got it's annual oil/filter change at 7,600 miles (third oil/filter change) while in for the coolant temp sensor and the dealer set the OBC to 8,000 miles til next change, according to the SA that is the new official change interval, he made a big deal out of telling me that

2012 Justa here. OBC said 15,000 for the first service. I brought the car in with 9800 miles for unrelated stuff at about 11 1/2 months after purchase, and they did the first service. The OBC then said 10,000 miles to the next service.

Why do call your Mini Cooper a "justa"? There are three trim levels ; Mini Cooper,
Mini Cooper "S" , and John Cooper Works. That j thing is so degrading IMO.
All trims are built on the same line and have over 90% the same parts. A fully loaded Mini Cooper can get real pricey and real difference is horsepower. I have had both and lookin to get the JCW next, love the MINI and it bother me when it's made fun of.

'Justa' isn't derogatory, it's affectionate and playful.
That's what mine is too. Besides, it's a lot easier than saying "non-turbo". "non-S" or "base model", and just saying "MC" or "MINI Cooper" doesn't get the point across.
People who love their non-turbo, non-S, base MC wouldn't make fun of them for the world. It used to bother me too, but then I met some Justa owners, all of whom use the word as you would use a nickname for your child.

I dont think you can set it down from 15k to 10k or anything lower. If we are able to do this, i'm sure people will abuse it and get free maintenance more often.
My 07 said 18k after my last oil change. Will a software update from the dealer change it something that's more reasonable ie 10k? I remember reading something somewhere that MINI had realized that the 15k-18k interval was in all actuality a bit too high.
When I took my 2011 in for the last oil change (the 15,000 one) they reset the computer for a 10,000 mile interval in the future. But if you are out of warranty, it wouldn't matter anyway, just do them when you think it is best (shorter than they recommend!) The only time it matters is when you are under warranty and want the free one. So I am doing one (and paying for it) at 20,000 and then getting the free one at 25,000, etc. In other words, paying for every other change.
