Power loss after installing intake

I have an '07 MCS and I just installed a DDM Street Intake. It feels like I've lost a little bit of power after the install. The install was very straight forward and it seems like everything is correct, but I could be wrong. Any ideas or things to look out for?

Thanks!

You do loose some low end grunt from an open filter compared to the stock set up....thats probably what you're experiencing.

But you do gain more uuumph at upper rpm's.

You need to reset the computer. Disconnect the battery and wait a minute and reconnect it. The computer "learns" your driving style and now you have changed it. You need to start that learning over. Same sort of thing can happen when you change the FMIC.

Is disconnecting the battery even necessary?

I mean I've never done that and the car is perfectly fine.
If anything it self-adjusts within miles when it notices something different.

Downpipe, intercooler, intake etc.

Thanks for the input, guys! It definitely seems to have more in the upper rpms compared to before.

Ill put some miles on it and see what happens.

Yea just really rev the car out, you'll notice this surge around 3,500 RPMS on up, the car feels like it'll pull forever

Never heard of such advice before. I've got new dp, exhaust, and FMIC, and never disconnected the battery and never had any issues whatsoever.

And your experience means what with respect to what I said . I am glad that you had no issues on the subject, but I am not sure that it establishes the facts for all other MINIs out there.

Here is just one post by Helix on the subject:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...vibration.html

Read post #18 (Sorry I forgot the "press on the brake" statement in post #20)

There are a number of other posts by Helix stating the same thing. I am sure if you were to do a search on this subject you will find them.

I have to believe that if it applies to the FMIC, it could apply to other mods that affect the engine's performance. And this is not to say that all performance mods will have a negative affect on all cars. My '07 ran like crap when I changed the FMIC and that was fix by disconnecting the battery. My 2012 ran just fine when I made the same change.

The OP's problem seemed very similar to the FMIC one Helix responded to. He made a change that affected the engine's performance and it didn't seem to work out too well and he came looking for advice, so I posted an option for the OP to try. It is an option that could help, can't hurt anything, takes 5 minutes and could solve the problem.

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely give this a try.
