Looking for help, not judgement!!!

I'm thinking about getting a set of 19/8 with +45 offset.

Will these fit my 08 MCS or will they stick out like a sore thumb?

I couldn't send a message to "rally" inbox was full. So I'm hopping to get advice here and not judgement. If you want to poke fun, fine... But just want advice.

I have the app "wheelappplus" and from the calculations of the wheels and tires I have now, wouldn't be much of a difference, except sidewall.

17/7/+42
205/45r/17

I appreciate the help everyone,
Shaun

Ok Shaun, have you looked to see if there are any tires that might fit the new wheels that are close to the same diameter?

I just looked around a bit and found a 235-30-19. But damn that's going to be almost no sidewall. It will ride like crap, and you may very well damage the wheel and tire if you run over an old wad of used gum...lol

It wont stick out beyond the fender. If anything it might contact the strut on the inside up front.

I think the more likely tire choice is 215/35/19

They will probably fit a stock height, but there is a decent chance they will rub especially if lowered.

size difference is not insignificant: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...&Submit=Submit

Yea, I would get a 215/35/19.

I was looking at that too the inside strut!!! So I'd need like a 3mm spacer upfront but would that place them beyond the outside???

Lol with the wheels I have now, the ride couldn't get any worse!!!

If you look at the pics I've posted "sorry I can't post them on here as of yet" but I want to say its lowered but nothing huge. There's still a finger or 2 of space between the tire and top fender.

Creeve,

Do you think I'll need spacers?

Yes, you will almost certainly need a 3 or 5mm up front, maybe the same in the rear.

Will that make them stick out though?

On the app I have, it's saying with the added 3mm spacers

Inner clearance: 13mm
Outer clearance: 13mm

With a 5mm spacer

Inner clearance: 11mm
Outer clearance: 15mm

What do you hope to accomplish going with such large wheels? If appearance is your thing, and you like the look, then go for it. If improved performance is your thing, then I think any potential improved performance will not be offset by the degraded ride characteristics. Just my thoughts. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

Don't know what know what app that is but those numbers sounds relatively meaningless to me.

No, they still should not stick out with 5mm spacers

19s would be the last thing you would want for performance or practicality. 19s are definitely a looks only size on the Mini.

Yea its a significant size difference.

As far as clearances I base my estimations on things people have already made work. Unfortunately clearances will be different on the front depending on what shocks/springs you have and the diameter of the wheel.

If you had coilovers and were using an 18" or smaller wheel I could give a much more concrete answer about inner clearance because there would be a basis for comparison.

I can say that the threshold for outside clearance on a 8" wide wheel is around et30. I don't forsee you being anywhere near that so it shouldn't be a problem as long as the tires aren't wider then the wheel. Another good reason to stick with a 215 rather then a 225 or 235 series tire.

I'll get a set a 3mm spacers just in case, lol

Compared to other MCS's I've seen, it's maybe a 1in drop all around maybe 1.5 at the most.
