Retrofitting aftermarket "wiper delay" box ?

Just got myself a new-to-me 2009 Justa and yes, I understand 100% how the wipers work. (I don't have rain sensing wipers)

It's sortof an annoyance or PITA to have no adjustable delay. Slow is "a bit too fast" and fast is "way too fast" and delay(int.) is "just too slow". If there was 1 (or maybe 2 ? ) more settings between delay and slow, it would be perfect.

As I see it now (summer) it's just a PITA, but come winter here in the harsh NorthEast, I see it being an issue. There are some days when it's snowing hard enough to use delay, but the heater is not producing much heat (to clear off windscreen perfectly and keep wipers thawed out), so having the delay set "just right" won't build up the ice/snow/freezing rain too much. Sometimes it's a very fine line. . .to run your wipers "just so fast" (or slow) A real balancing act.

as it is, I see me putting it on delay, but using another downwards bump or two in between. . . . .(I am guessing. . I did this the other day in plain rain but after 3 hours of driving, eventually just set it to slow (which is, as I said, "a bit too fast" )

OK, all that being said, has anyone wired in an aftermarket (or home made) adjustable wiper delay box? I had one in several of my cars in the 80's...even into the 90's.....kept swapping it from car to car. This is when cars' wiring was real easy to get to, and I wasn't worried about computers. Since the early 90's, I think all my cars have had adjustable delay on the wipers and I've had quite a number of cars.

I bet I still have the ol' wiper delay box buried out in the shed somewhere.....but has anyone fitted one? I usually wire it into the slow speed cct.

I am concerned that the computer will have an embolism when it is set to slow speed and doesn't sense the proper current draw or something else equally BMWish.

Anyone?
(EDIT: Forgot to ask. . .does anyone have the part of the schematic that deals with the wipers. . . ;specifically the wire colour code for the slow (aka "a bit too fast") cct ?

Schematics can be found here. http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/r.../r56/index.htm

But yes you may have problems with the computer side of things but there is a slow and a fast line to the motor. the other two lines are ground and home position line.
