Need Info On Yellow Brake & Service Light

Hey folks need some help with the service lights I just got. Starting the car the yellow BRAKE light comes on along with the service light (orange car on lift) on the tach. The yellow BRAKE light stays on and when you go to search through the computer there is no service warning or anything like that. Scanning with a tool shows no codes pending. This came on during normal driving, and there is NO affect on how the car performs, or brakes.

Info:
2007 MCS
New rotors, pads, fluid, & sensors replaced 14k miles ago, all check out great. Fluid is at the MAX line, no fluid leaks to be found.

Normally I'd say the lights are on because you have tripped one of the wear sensors. Considering your recent brake job, maybe one of them has gone bad or something. The limited info I've found (mostly for BMW) indicates 328 is a code for the brake pad sensor, so that seems consistent with the lights.

Check that the sensor was put in right (left front and right rear) and at the same time check the pads for wear. If all of that is right then -
The wires are very small on the sensors and can break easily. Either that or it is not plugged in right.

Just put the car in the air and both sensors look great, still firmly attached and not frayed. Pads literally look new on all corners. I did a spirited run and the ABS and the DSC both kick in when they should.

I have a feeling its one of the sensors to from looking up that 328 code. I guess I could buy 2 new ones and see if that will do it.

Does a master cylinder throw any lights? But like I said car performs great.

That normally isn't the brake warning light.

Yeah, it's not in the book anywhere, but that 328 code shows up on other BMW OBD's as a brake sensor. Anyone else have any ideas?

You could try testing the sensors to see if you get any unusual readings. That might help confirm the problem is one of the sensors.

Well you can do the simple thing and look at the pads and see if the look worn out. Also you can pull the snsors out and see if they are worn too. Both of which are simple and will take you about 20 minutes. If it is not the brake pads or the sensors you might need a brake ffluid flush.

Nice, thanks I'll check that out tonight. Already ordered a new sensor just in case.

I installed all the brakes less than a year ago (14k miles ago), and like I said above they litterally look new, I also flushed and replaced the fluid with ATE Super Blue at that time. These lights lead me to believe it is a failure somewhere, not a service interval, besides the service interval for both brakes on the BC indicate 2 years or 23,000 miles from now for replacement.

UPDATE:

I received the new sensors and replaced the front first and the lights immediatly went away. Drove it a few miles and it stayed off. So that was that, front brake sensor.

The sensor I installed less than a year ago looked brand spanking new, it was not torn, or damaged, was plugged in tight, and the terminal was still fully surrounded by plastic, it never made contact with the rotor. This was a Geniune MINI part as well.

Hope that helps someone in the future.

Hell if you did all that di you reset the service interval? If not, that is your problem.

I've got the same condition-just flushed the fluid and appears to be plenty of meat on the brakes, they've probably got about 18k on them of 80% hwy driving. When the weather allows I'll try to get a look at the sensors. In the meantime, how did you get that code to appear. Is there something this could be other than sensors? Reset doesn't seem to do anything.

UPDATE:rear sensor broken and wire just a dangling. Closed the circuit so the light is off while I wait for the part. whew
