RPM drops fast with A/C on??

When my A/C is full blast and I push the clutch. The RPM's drop extremely fast.
When I clutch, I have to release immediately, like I'm racing because the RPM's drop so fast. Does the Air Conditioning unit do this to you guys?
I have a 2012 MINI Cooper S Hatchback Manual Transmission
Standard A/C Unit.

All cars do that, not just minis.

I try not to have my a/c on. Windows are open all summer except when fully suited up for a wedding or party. I always believed it killed power.

You don't really notice the lag on automatic cars... Or is that just me?

I have never noticed this on a stick shift car. How bad is the rpm drop. If it is a couple hundred then who cars but if you are shifting at 2500 and it is dropping to a 1000 then there might be a problem.

I haven't noticed this on my car, nor a loss of power when running the A/C. Maybe it's because I run the A/C runs almost constantly and so it's normal to me?
