Understanding PCV

So the reasont the mini has 2 pcv's is simple because it is turbocharged the passange side dose all of the work at idle or deceleration under boost it is closed. The main reason you want PCV is to keep the crank case under vaccume that reduces the chance of leaks around seals hard for oil to leak out if its sucking air in. Also turbos do no have seals just bearings so if there is crank case pressure thay can leak oil in to the intake or exhaust especialy if they are worn. A vaccume in the crank case causes suction to make sure the oil is sucked out of the turbo. I personaly dont like the idea of blocking off either pcv as the passengr intake will creat the most suction and the turbo side has almost no suction unless the turbo is spooling or the air filter is pluged.

I think you are correct, however a thousand "experts" will agree, then a thousand different ones will not.
No real consensus

I developed a CEL (P1497) "downstream throttle air leak".

Replaced the valve cover, Oil ring for Camshaft position sensor, Fuel tank breather valve, Gas cap, Vacuum tank and associated hoses, Pressure converter, Intake manifold gaskets, Diverter valve, and intake hoses.

Those things didn't fix it.

Dealership did a compression and leak down test, and smoke test with no resolution.

I then decided to put back the hose that was removed when I did the PCV delete.

Guess what - no more CEL P1497

So I added a second catch can for now to see how things go.

another question the hose that runs from the pcv pass side from valve cover to throttle body how to I cap that? throttle Body intake hose? if so who sell's it...Forge? ECS?
