Highway MPG from a slightly tuned R56 S?

Been looking at several cars, and one of the main requirements is MPG. The higher the better. I talked to an R53 S `vert owner that mentioned 35 on the highway and mid 20`s in town. This sounds great to me. Can I expect that from an R56? Looking at bolt-ons, AP, and HFS-4.

My avg(combined) is around 32 mpg with almost all the bolt ons and an AP stage 3 tune.

You can expect better from an R56, as it gets better MPG than the first generation. With an S model, I can manage 42MPG if I'm really easy on it. (Cruise control, anticipating what other cars are doing, etc). If I'm not being careful, I get around 36-38 on the highway with cruise control.

Around the city, I get 26-35, purely dependent on how I am feeling that day. (because racecar)

I have only exhaust and CAI, so nothing too extreme as far as mods go.

When I'm worrying about MPG, I realize that I am not fully enjoying the car. Something to keep in mind.

I will always enjoy the car, but when I have to make a few hour trip, I want to cruise. Listen to music. My current car gets 30 mpg in town, and I would love to stay near that.

I haven't done any add-ons, but my 2011 MCSm has averaged 34.3 mpg for the last three tankfuls, mostly city driving. Highway mpg depends a lot on speed. I keep the tach's computer display set to realtime mpg, to stay aware of what the right foot is doing, and I never race to the next stop light.

The best I ever got was a trip to Mt. Whitney (43 mpg).
But at home, I'm only getting 30 mpg...

I can't see how you are getting 40+ out of slighly tuned Mini S. The best I've gotten is about 36 on the highway. If you are diving less than 70 on the Jersey Tpk or I 95, you are going to get killed. You have to drive 75-80... Just no way to get good mileage at that speed.

With Jan's tune, intercooler, Way's bypass valve, AFE filter, my lifetime average MPG is 30.8. My last car was an Audi A6 Avant with the 2.8 V6 and it averaged about 17. So I'm totally happy with this.

It is called "stay out of boost" you will see high 30s in a MCS. Jersey turnpike or not you never have to do over the speed limit. **** those people!

No you never HAVE to go over the speed limit, but you greatly increase the chance that you will get runover buy some young un, (or old un), that's checking the texts, putting on makeup, reading a magazine, updating their facebook status... Or anything other than actually paying attention to what they are doing...lol

+1 on speed matters

in my stock mcs if i drive normally on california freeways (75-80) i avg about 31-32mpg a tank calculated the old fashioned way. if i drive under 70 and i believe i can get around 35-36 (ive never driven a whole tank that slow, i did about half like that i got 34mpg). about 95% of my miles are freeway

The OP wants to know what kind of gas mileage he’ll get wit home mild bolt ons and a tune... not stock.

X2...

No offense but I can’t see anyone getting 40+ mpg unless you’re driving 45-50 on cruise control ONLY on the highway for any length of time. If you so much as stop for gas, those numbers will be screwed.

With an aggressive RMW or Alta tune, cat, full exhaust in a 6 speed JCW (I mention JCW because of bigger turbo and pistons) I average 31.7 mpg on the way back from Minis on the Dragon over a 4 hour trip. (running 75-80 going through some hills....)

IF I had babied it and was on a flat surface, I may have been able to average 32-33mpg.

In town with a pretty heavy foot, I get 25-26 mpg in the city.
