Front underbody splash guard a must?

My question is, can i take off the front engine splash guard? It seems to be scraping on everything even on stock height.....i want to just get rid of it because i will be lowering my car soon. Should i leave it on? Will it damage the car if its off? Any advice will be great, thanks!

It won't damage anything to remove the under-splashguard. Most cars don't have them anyway. Your engine bay will get a lot dirtier without it though.

Mine scraps often. There are a ton of dips in the Denver area (Drainage dips built by dips). My front end looks like it is close to an inch lower than the back.

I wonder what the ground clearance of the MINI is supposed to be. Anyone know? Didn't see it on the MINIUSA.

I don't know about the R56, but on the R53, there was fin on the splash guard--that's what hits, at least on the R53. A dremel makes quick work of it, and you get to keep the rest of the protector. Again, not sure if it's the same on an R56.

My car is lowered 2.5 inches and I kept the front air dam on. Yea, it rubs on on the pavement when pulling into some gas stations from time to time. It also serves to redirect some of the air around the car.

On my car the inner liner that connects the bumper cover to the splash guard ripped off at the beach and now my bumper cover feels loose at the bottom. Are there any clips in the bumper or is the only attachment at the bottom this inner liner? Can I buy a new one?

If your talking about the under tray, yes in a way it's their for a reason, to channel air to a certain path. In my other car it's a need for proper cooling which the mazda RX8 needs especially here in South Texas where we see temperatures of 103 to 104 degrees F today. I rather just keep it on or buy a aluminum one http://raceroots.com/media/catalog/p.../file_2_28.jpg l

looks nice. do they make aluminum under tray's for the R56?
