About to purchase a 09/11' mcs auto

Hello, I'm female at SoCal trying to close a deal on a CPo mini, 09 with 20k miles asking 20k, auto which is a must for me, am I paying it right? Around the park or am I better off finding something else? I think I need a CPo for the warranty since I see that r56 has a few maintainace problems but I just love the way it looks.

Also I've been wanting to ask with an automatic turbo car, what's the best way to get the bov sound? I don't need the speed due to my commute is pretty much with traffic. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Ms

That sounds like a good price for a CPO MINI with low miles. I dont know what options it has, but it is probably worth around the sugested retail is probably around $25k.
Its always good to get a warranty on cars and especially MINI's. Not saying they are bad cars, i love mine to death. But they "can" have occasional problems.
Hope that helps.

No, just the difference in driving fun between the auto and manual is a night a day difference. It's all about driving pleasure with the MINI and you lose so much of that with the soul sucking automatic slush-box.

Don't pay attention to these types... for some reason people who drive manuals feel illogically superior to those who choose automatics. It's a common theme on these boards, but there is no basis in reality for that opinion. Most of them probably haven't even driven an auto, or just decided that they don't like automatics on principle. Fortunately, those types usually advertise their lack of knowledge by making inane posts like the one you responded to, therefore making your job of weeding out the nonsense a bit easier.

The truth is that the auto in a MINI is really great, I love mine and wouldn't trade it for a manual. If that's the way you are leaning, go for it, you will love it despite what the vocal minority here say!

Especially when it's from the same person (or 3-4 more depending on the topic) who shows up in every thread parroting catch phrases like "soul sucking auto slushbox." If that's all you've got, please don't bother.

Cheers!

I would be a bit worried if the price seems significantly lower than the "typical" prices. Is that because the mileage is higher than "typical"? Or is it an unpopular color? Or is there something obviously wrong with it? You might see if you can take the car to an independent MINI specialist to see what they have to say about it. Just in case.

I have always done that, but I have always bought used cars direct from their owners and not from dealers.

Ya so that price seems pretty good then. And like all the others say, dont pay attention to the people who bash auto's. I do have a manuel, but i actually like driving the auto's as well, when i get a loaner car when it is in the shop. My parents also have a MCSa and they love that thing.
Also with the blow off valve, you can get a k&n drop in filter to make it a little more noticable, or you can opt for a aftermarket cai (cold air intake) then you can really hear it spool and the blow off valve. It really depends on how much money you want to spend.
Hope this helped. If you finalize the sale. Enjoy, they are awesome cars in my opinion.

I've driven two MINI R56 MCS automatics from the dealer when going through warranty repair. I'm not trying to seem holier than thou just explaining that there is a huge difference in driving feel. In no way am I trying to belittle the poster but keep them informed on how both have a very different driving feel. Amazing how people get all nasty on forums. I can't imagine you would say something like this to somebody's face. Anyways, back on topic.

We have an automatic transmission thread going on the board. I'll see if I can find the link, (Found it!) https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ners-club.html, but all of us that have automatics love them and no one regrets getting one. It sounds like you'll be in heavy traffic so having a manual transmission would be hell during rush hour in my opinion. Also, based on MINI's testing, the automatics are faster than the manuals in 0-60mph.

The last time I checked the KBB on my '09 MCa, it was right at $18k for a CPO so $20k sounds like a good price because I have more miles on mine and it's a MC not a MCS. Good luck and please post pics when you pick it up!

Revise history much? First, I wasn't the least bit nasty to anyone. I just pointed out to the person you gave wrong information to how your antagonizing personality is a frequent turn off, and yes, I'd say it in person as well.

I love the way you post the following:
"It's an automatic. Get the F*** away from that thing!!! " in addition to your tired cliche of "soul sucking automatic slush-box".

Then when you have nothing else to offer, you claim that others "get all nasty on the forum" while you were "trying to keep the OP informed". Sounds like you've got it all figured out!

I've always been a stick type of guy, but I love the auto in my Mini. Bumper to bumper, no problem! If I want to shift, sports button, and transmission shifter over... then paddle shift to my hearts content. I don't think you could shift a stick faster...in fact I saw a review...I think it was Car and Driver, but not sure, where they spent the day tying it get faster 1/4 mile times then the auto with a manual and couldn't do it.

I just bought my mom a 2011 MCSa for $20k. I think you can talk them down a bit. I'm in Orange County and drove to National City to get a better deal.

wow gees! i didn't mean to start a "mini" war here, i've own multiple cars before both manual and automatic, there's a reason why i want this mini in an automatic. its for daily driven 60 miles round trip from irvine to pasadena, DAILY.i also work while im on the road with my phone and most of the time i email on my phone while im completely stuck on traffic which is everyday :P auto mcs are not a slushbox to me, everyone can have their preference right?

i've done some research on different types of minis from gen 1 to gen 2 and of course jcw, gen2 mcs seems like the perfect fit for me, no plans in modding this car other than cai/forge bov/springs/wheels/maybe exhaust for this car, nothing intense. im trying to knock the price down to 18k otd if its even possible for the ones im looking at right now.

ive seen some videos on youtube regarding the sound that im looking for seems like alta-cai + forge bov might be the sound im looking for, im just not sure how it'll sound on an automatic turbo mini s, if anyone can find some videos not parked i'll be more than happy!

again thank you very much guys for the input, i'm not here to stir up some bs about auto vs manual.

-ms

Have the car checked by a reputable mechanic or a Mini dealer, the last thing you need is a Mini with problems! The price sounds good and you'll love the auto. I have an auto because I couldn't stand the manual in rush hour traffic. The auto is rock solid and will never give you problems, you can even drive it manual mode without the clutch headaches! Just please, please get it checked out BEFORE you buy it!!!

I agree with most others here. My wife has an 09 MCS automatic. And that car is very quick. I really like driving it. I drive in a lot of traffic everyday. When I had my 09 R56 I sometimes wished for an auto.

Now that I have my JCW I never think that. Bottom line is that auto is a great choice and you will find it's quick. I punch my wife's car and it flat moves.

The fact of the matter is that a properly set up automatic transmission shifts much faster than humans can. Thus the reason for auto's in many, many racing applications.

You'll be very happy.
