What should be my next mod on my 2011 MINI Cooper S?

Hello everyone,
I recently just added my DDM street intake on my car. I'd like to know what should be next on my list to scratch off? I heard the torque arm inserts. Ideas are welcomed as I'm on my next journey for modding my beauty.

Lose the run flats. Should be #1 mod on ANY list.

2nd waymotorworks.
Haven't installed my torque arm mount insert yet but will by next
week. I do have the h-sport 19mm rear sway bar.
Also, waiting to install my coilovers and intercooler.

Someone else mentioned, what are you looking for, hp or handling?
I think hit the handling aspect, the car is peppy enough.

i have an 11 too, im going after the best mods for the buck speed wise, intake, catless downpipe, tune, then get rid of my run flats, and get coilovers,

quite honestly i dont see how the stock rear stabilizer bar(aka rear sway bar) is much worst than the after market one, i think they are pretty much equal, unless you track the car only i could see it being a worthwhile mod.

I don't track my car either but the larger rear sway bar (h-sport) set in the center adjusting hole really knocks out the understeer. I can really
feel the difference when coming off the interstate ramps that have a
fairly sharp curve to them.

It really does lose the understeer, its an amazing difference. I went with the NM 22mm rear sway bar. Quality!!

that would ususally be the case with the higher hp cars but the mini is not all that quick to get you into serious trouble on the corners, it comes with awesome handling out of the box, but to each his own

Hey guys,
I'm looking for HP gains I just want my car to be way quicker. But if Sly is right that I should go with suspension first I just might do that. I will list my mods I am looking to get done so I can see what everyone says. This is in no particular order but just what I have written down.

1.Super Sprint Exhaust System
2.JCW380cc Injectors
3.Bigger Brakes
4.Torque Arm Bushings
5.Tune(Alta accessport) depends on brand
6.Front Mount Intercooler(Forge)
7.Turbo Heat Shield(NM)
8.Samco Boost Tubes & Turbo Inlet Tube
9.Hawk brake pads(after warranty is over)
10.Delete Exhaust Resonator(I don't want to buy exhaust system til 70K)
11.19MM rear sway bar

and that is all. If there is something I'm missing then please let me know. But it looks like I will go next with the Torque arm bushings and delete the exhaust resonator.

I don't like crushing spirits, but time to give you some heads-up on some parts.

Currently (at the time of this writing), the N18 ECU hasn't been 'cracked' and flash programming hasn't been achieved yet.
Many, including yourself are still awaiting to see who will be the first to do such...

Which injectors are you refering to?
I just cross-referenced the OEM JCW N14 injectors to the 'S'-model N18 injectors and they're the same part...

One of the better bang-for-buck modifications as the OEM unit can heat soak quickly in the summer.

For sound or power?
Because, a downpipe is the better choice for power.
The cat-back exhausts are for noise / pitch change only.

11.19MM rear sway bar
You will fall in love driving your hatch with a set of good performance oriented tires and a upgraded rear sway bar.
It's a game changer without even adding power.

Hey there fellow Michigander. Might be worth while to give Chad at Detroit Tuned a call to discuss what you want done. I am certain he has forgotten more about MINIs than most of us know and he has the experience to know what works and what doesn't.

I also have a 2011 MCS and am stumped on my next performance mod. I currently added the Helix FMIC and would LOVE tune but as previously mentioned...hasn't been cracked yet.

I can't decide between an intake or a downpipe. I think those 2 would be the next best choices for power...

any input?

igotboost, what has your experience been with just your FMIC? That was one of the first mods I was planning on doing in my 2012.

And for anyone else out there, what DP do you recommend? Ive heard mixed reviews about adding a DP, as they have frequently caused CELs, and a few manufacturers have removed them from their exhaust systems for this reason.

That's really cool man, I want to get my FMIC on my car too but I would do the intake. I really enjoy mine. I wouldn't really do a downpipe because it can causes some big problems. But good luck on what your choice may be.

Not to undercut everybody on the forum, but since you're in Metro Detroit, you really should just put together a battle plan with Chad at Detroit Tuned. This will stop all the different opinions. He can speak from experience for every modifiable part of the MINI. I can safely say the more you hang around this forum to gather opinions, the more confused you're going to get. Hopefully we'll see you at the Spring Fling in April to chat about our Coopers!
