Is there a way to add OIL Temp/pressure?

So I just got my new car, first week is tonight. ('12 MCS-Vert)

I know the car knows this information, but is there a way to program the car to tell me this information on the little center tach screen. Just asking...

I would like to have a water temp and oil pressure reading also. I,ve been looking at threads on gauges etc. but still have questions. I know you have a convertible also. So...

Is there a way to remove the useless "openometer" and locate a gauge there ? Or even use the housing for a new gauge that is actually useful?

That is one thing I am going to miss having when I move to a newer model. I know the Chrono pack wasn't everyone's cup of tea (guages instead of center speedo), but I sure do like having temp, oil temp, and oil pressure guages. I believe there are a couple of stock guages available as an add-on when you order. I think there are a better selection of aftermarket ones. I have always wondered how accurate an aftermarket add on would be.

Sure, contact Kellen at Craven Speed. They have some nice complete kits. Their number is (434)272-8364 or http://www.cravenspeed.com/.

You could use the ScanGauge2. I use one in my diesel truck and get water and oil temp. It plugs into the diagnostic port and gets all the info. It will even tell you your check engine codes if you get any.

Since when did ScanGauge2 reports oil temp/pressure? I just checked the latest manual at http://www.scangauge.com/ and their manual for the latest (version 6) doesn't show it as a supported measure (nor does XGauge).

R56's don't measure oil temp or pressure. Just level.

Here's another link for guages. I know someone added two guages in their MINI and I must say they look sharp.

To answer the OP's question, No! There is no way to get the car to readout that info on the center screen.

You can add aftermarket senders and gauges.

Mini's have no idea about oil pressure, or temp other than if it's above the low pressure switch threshold or not. The it turns on the light. and the engine blows up...

As per my above post, the ECU does monitor oil temp.

Too bad, it was an OEM accessory on my R53. Here's the one from Craven:

Do you have any options ticked from the factory, because every R56 I've ever used does not have the capability to read oil temp.

Please show me some logs of your oil temp

No options from the factory, but is is necessary to check the option in the AccessPort. It is not logged by default.

R55s and 56s do not monitor oil press or temp, except for low oil pressure, AKA the "blown engine lite".

The aeroforce does look like a nice product but so far I have not seen a better built unit than the Edge that Im running. It has a full OLED LCD display with selectable wallpaper that sems almost prescient in knowing what illumination level is perfect for prevailing conditions. If only my GPS and MP3 player screens were as good ................. :(

The Aeroforce has 2 analog inputs as well so even though it doesn't pick up oil temp and pressure from the OBDII, you can still have it display those values using analog sensors.

I believe the Edge can do that as well, not sure about 2 channels at once. It also clocks 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times and highest speed attained, and reads and clears all OBDII codes, and for larger vehicles, will also accept their rear image camera.
Ive used the OBD code function already, very sweet it reads out in plain English, and currently my highest recorded speed is 98MPH. Ooooops, did I say that out loud?

It will hit boost cut (22psi) pretty regularly in the higher gears. I've been working with Alta to get some milder tunes. So far they have made 5 alternate stage 1 maps for me and I can still hit boost cut with the first 4 maps. I need to load the 5th one and try it out. I'm starting to think there is some issue with the car. It is stock except for a WMW BPV.

No clue on HP, but it pulls real hard when it doesn't hit boost cut.

In order to log oil temp/pressure, you need a sender of some sort that is hooked up to an oil chamber somewhere. The R56 has no such thing. Yours must have an aftermarket installation that allows you to measure oil temp/pressure.

There is only a low oil level light, nothing else.

There is only a low oil level light, nothing else. I might be wrong, but I have done my fair share of research!

Nope. I am the original owner of the car. Unless this temp sensor was only on the 07 R56, anyone with an AccessPort can select oil temp as a parameter to monitor or log. I have no idea where the sensor is located.
