Prosport Halo gauge ~ Clear wiring instructions for R56...

I just installed the Prosport Halo boost and water temp gauges and wanted to post clear instructions for the install as the Prosport instructions are not car specific, and the Alta instructions are very wordy.

Gauge wire colors:
~red
~orange
~black
~white

First and foremost, disconnect your battery. These batteries go dead quick!

You'll have to add extra jumper wire to the gauges. I recommend using the same colors. I used 22 gauge wire. First, follow all of the quick connect instructions provided by Prosport, being very careful to not mix them up.

Remove the kick panel under steering column. There are 3 torx bolts. Also remove the 2 sensor screws attached to kick panel. Then remove panel. Then unscrew the 2 torx screws on the OBDII plug and pull it down. Now, unscrew the 3 torx screws in each of the cup holders of the center console. Then lift it up enough to see the cig lighter wires. Also remove the 2 silver torx screws holding the panel next to the gas pedal.

Now that all the wires to tap are available. Lets tap in!

Run your gauge wires from the gauges behind the steering column and behind where the kick panel was.

Now, here's the precise wiring instructions. Locate the red wire with the blue stripe on the OBDII plug at pin 16. This is your 12v constant. You'll want to connect the red wire from the gauge here.

Run the remaining white, black, and orange wire to the console. Tap into the thick brown wire with the black wire. This is the ground wire. Tap into the thick red wire with the white wire, this is the ignition on wire, and following the wires to the DSC button, find the grey wire with the red stripe, and tap into it with the orange wire. This is the illumination wire.

Now, hook battery back up. Put key in and turn on before putting anything back together. It should work if all of your connections on the gauges are correct. Check and double check is always good. That's it. Zip tie all loose wires and put everything back together, and you're ready to go! Hope this helps. Thanks to everyone who helped me!

Very nice--I've been thinking of getting a couple of gauges for my next car. However one thing I see is it looks like the right gauge is blocking the airflow from the vent, isn't it?

Nice, but really, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery first, attach the negative terminal last... ALWAYS....

It does a little, but there's still plenty of air getting by. Small price to pay, but not really an issue.

Great write up! I used it today everything is hooked up except the thermometer, how do you run the wire through the fire wall for that?

Pardon my ignorance, but which gauge pod setup is this? I haven't seen that one before.
