R56 turbo issue... help
turbo issue... help
ok so im new to this site and havent had a chance to read through all 101 pages of threads yet, so i appoligize if this has been covered but does anyone else have trouble keeping the hot side of the turbo inlet hose (hose between intake and turbo) attatched, mine keeps sliding off and i wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem before i pay out the *** to get my turbo fixed if, in fact, it is my turbo thats the problem. there seems to be a slight film of oil in the hose coupling but very little in the turbo itself. needless to say im a little confused.
thanks in advance

What year and mileage is on your car?
You're saying that boost pipe from the turbo compressor exit to the intercooler (hot-side discharge pipe) is sliding off the turbo housing?
Easy, simply remove the fitting, clean, and gently apply a very thin film of hair spray to the pipe and reattach.
Snug down with the clamp and that pipe should hold without issue.

its an 08 MCS with 83,000. its the tube from the intake to the turbo not the turbo to the intercooler. the end that keeps sliding off is the end attached to the turbo but i may try the hairspray idea although i thought that may burn off before too long.
Yes. Oil from the turbo gets into the air intake pipe coming off the turbo. Even though its not under pressure, the angle it attaches as well as oil at the fitment site causes the pipe to slip off. Very poor design as the turbo flange should have a bead like the exhaust/hot side of the turbo has. I removed the crappy mini hose clamp, and replaced it with a T-bolt clamp. Pull the pipe and clean it out, then tighten the hell out of the clamp. The turbo is not the issue.
If you don't have hairspray, I use pepsi (or any high sugar drink) to hold my mountain bike handles in place. Maybe it's the oil from the oil vapor hose (the one connecting right before the turbo) that made the thing to slide out.
To clean oil, I love the brake cleaner from ''wurth'', this thing is very, very good, and it dries in seconds

thanks guys youve been a tremendous help. i will definatly try the hairspray thing and replacing the clamp. I wasnt aware of the oil vapor hose and how it can leak into the coupleing so you all have saved me a ton of money in figuring that out,
thanks again
thanks again
I had that exact problem. If you over tighten it then it slides off. http://defendersofspeed.com/store/pr...?id_product=19
That is where I got my clamp 2 months ago. It's held ever since. There is a pic of where it connects. Hope that's what your talking about. Best part is...8$!!!!!!!!
