R56 Sport suspension specs?
Sport suspension specs?
Does anyone know what the "sports suspension" option changes with respect to the standard suspension? On the Justa, if it makes a difference.
I'm interested in specifics if I can get them, like "front anti-roll bar goes from XX mm to YY mm" or "rear springs go from XXX lb/in to YYY lb/in".
I have heard that the JCW sport suspension includes at least an uprated front anti-roll bar, and also stiffer and lower springs all around, and re-valved shocks to match the springs. No info on the specific sizes and rates though.
Thanks!

What exactly are you looking to do with the car? That will be the biggest factor of what suspension you should be looking at.
If you do ANY track or autocross, you really are going to need some more front camber. Problem is, camber plates will put you in a class whey you might need thousands more $ in mods to be in any way competitive. If that doesn't matter to you , go for it.
If this is just a street car, then don't worry about it, the car is probably way better than you are... Sorry, but it's the truth...

Hey, we all need to start hearing the truth... I stiil can't believe the stupid people I see attempting to drive every day.
Most people that own BMW"s and Mini's, (insert your favorite brand here...lol) couldn't drive out of a paper bag... a real shame...

After a decade and a half of autoX, and a few Big Track experiences, I can fully appreciate how ANY car is better than I am. However, I would like to think that I'm better able to appreciate that than most of the people out there.
The car will primarily be used as a daily driver, but might wind up chasing around some cones or trying to hit apexes at Laguna Seca or Thunder Hill at some point.
I am mostly interested in the differences between what I have ordered (the sport suspension option) and the other possible things that I could have gotten (the standard suspension, or the JCW sport suspension). If possible, quantitative differences. I like the numbers, what can I say? :D

Here is the real truth, you sound like a very knowledgable person that provided great feedback to the original poster, but seems your attitude got in the way. the man want information and not your personal issues with drivers. If you don't like what he asked, then don't answer, simple, i am sure he won't lose sleep coz you didn't post to his thread...

I have an '10 Cooper with standard suspension running bottom of the pack at speedway autocross. There was a '11 Cooper with Sport Suspension and 16 inch standard RF rubber running consistently 10 to 12 seconds faster on a +/- 1:20 run.
+1 on the sport suspension for autocross. The JCW suspension is also now allowed in SCCA stock category. The spring rates depend on what options your car has as well as what suspension option it has. I've never seen published specs.
looking for specs but def not seeing any..
Good morning,
Were you able to find any specs on the factory 'sport suspension'? I ask because I do not want a lowering spring with less stiffness than my current set up.

no.. no idea
What's strange to me is you can add the $500 sport suspension to the JCW model. I thought that whatever the JCW package gives you it would be at least on par with whatever that sport suspension add-on package gives you. If that's a step up from the JCW suspension does that mean I can get an equally well handling standard non-S Cooper by just adding that $500 sport suspension package to it? I doubt that, but it is confusing...
I'm having flashbacks of playing Gran Turismo 2.
Does the JCW come with a standard suspension similar to that of the Cooper S?
The reason I ask is because if you build a JCW on MINI's site you can add that $500 sport suspension and then later when you get to the JCW add-ons section you can then add a JCW-specific suspension for $1416 on top of the $500 you just put out for that other package? Normally the site is smart enough to warn you of redundant options or not let you add two things that negate one another, but it doesn't seem to in that case. Sorry to hijack the thread with this, but it has bothered me for some time. If I'm going to spend nearly $2000 on suspension upgrades I'd certainly like to know the details of those upgrades.

The JCW add-ons section is dealer-installed stuff. The cost on there is just the parts cost, installation is extra. And my understanding is the JCW suspension in that section replaces the parts that are upgraded when you pick the "sport suspension" option, so the $500 is simply wasted at that point.

When I was considering adding the JCW suspension, I was going to add it on to the sport suspension. The JCW does completely replace the sport suspension, but if I decided I really didn't like the JCW version, I could have the sport suspension reinstalled (at enormous expense). I know I like the sport suspension.
This is all that I have been able to find in my 4+ years on NAM:
The JCW suspension has upgraded sway bars, springs, and shocks.
Rear Sway Bar:
Standard Suspension = 17mm
Sport Suspension = 18mm
JCW Suspension = 18.5mm
Even Motoringfile.com does not have much info:
