The boot can hold a Jeep...rear ended.

Well I was the 6th hit in a 7 car pile up. Jeep behind me was stuck inside my boot that was smashed in. I was pushed 5 feet into the truck in front of me, where if he didn't have his trailer hitch on I probably would not have hit him.

It took the Tow truck to lift the front of my car to get the jeep out of the boot. Insurance says car is "triggered" as a total at this time. Of course they still want their preferred shop to look at it.

What happend was a 30ft box van forgot the stop part in stop and go traffic on I5 just North of Tacoma, he plowed a Pathfinder, pushed into consecutice Corollas into the jeep, pushed into me, pushed into the P/U truck. The Pathfinder, the Box Truck and the first Corolla all burned.

I am completely impressed with my MINI S, no broken glass no airbags deployed. The crash did not feel as bad as it looks. I am sore, but not as bad as I thought I would be after what happened.

I am having issues pulling pics but once I figure it out I will post.

Wow! Glad you're okay, that's nuts! Good to hear another story of a Cooper holding up to traffic carnage.

I hope the people in the other cars got out in time. What a mess, glad you came out in one piece. The car can always be replaced. You cant.

I've seen you roaming around. Too bad about your Mini. I'm glad you are ok. Now you can buy a 2012 Coupe. Yea!

Regards,

Pat

That is a dangerous stretch of roadway! Glad you are OK. My wife's MINI was hit from behind last month while she was sitting at a Stop Light. She is OK with physical therapy and muscle relaxers and the MINI was saved from severe damage by the trailer hitch! Only $3100 to fix it instead of 5 or 10K.

Mini's are pretty tough!!!

WOW glad you are OK. Keep an eye on yourself too. I was rear ended thought I was semi OK turned out it ruptured a disk in my back. I would have been severely crippled if it had not been a BMW (it is not clear to me how the mini would have faired). I ended up getting about 70 percent of the replacement cost of the car which was a real bummer financially it was paid for but did eventually make my decision to get the mini.
