R56 Question about dealer maintenance
Question about dealer maintenance
I bought a 2011 Justa about 3 months ago and I have been lurking around this board for about 6 months. I have already learned a lot from the community and I appreciate it. Has anyone used a dealer to change their oil before the service based indicator says it needs to be done? I know I would have to pay for it, but would the dealer object to doing it before the service indicator says it needs to be done? I live in a city and don't have the facilities to change my own oil before the computer says it will be needed. Thanks in advance!

They want your money, so they will happily do extra maintenance that's not scheduled if you give them money. If it won't hurt the car, they'll do stuff that's technically extraneous (like the extra oil change).
I never changed the oil on my 2006 other than either the low-annual mileage change or when the counter said it was time. I never had any problems, so don't really see why you would want to change the oil more often and waste money. It's synthetic oil so it lasts longer.

You get the annual change regardless of the display, assuming you know to ask. I did and no hassles and no charge on my 2010 S.
I'd be surprised if they wouldn't do it, especially if it's the dealer you purchased the car from. Service is a good portion of their profits.
I bought a used 2009, still within warranty, a few months back and scheduled an "inspection" prior to final purchase with my normal Mini Dealership.
I asked that "all fluids" be replaced if the car passed a mechanical inspection. Purchasing the car was contingent on the "inspection".
The dealer did everything no problem. From now on I'll do most of it myself though. It wasn't cheap to have this done.
Whether or not the oil change is necessary in your case? Only you can decide that.
