R56 Exhaust style question
Exhaust style question
Has anyone with a Cooper S ever considered running an exhaust like a Cooper? Performance aside because really it is not going to affect it all that much. I just really don't like the center exiting exhaust and I am considering changing it up. In the r56 it really makes not difference but in the r53 I could see it being a little bit better of an idea.
I can't remember the company that sells them but they sell just the valance inserts so you can either run a Cooper style exhaust or a Clubman S style exhaust. I remember them being really pricey though.
With the R53's its a straight up swap, hell if you find someone with the same color and different model you can trade, and not need to buy anything.
With the R56, IDK? It is possible, but no clue on how much it would take.

Its a straight swap too. Really there is no compatabilty issues I was just wondering if anyone has done it before or not.

I havent seen it. Just remember if you are going for peak power turbos love big exhausts. I dont know the pipe diameter of any COOPER systems, but anything 2.5" or bigger will do nicely. Even with the bends of the COOPER systems the back pressure shuld be minimal, which is a good thing on a turbo car.
Thats the thing I nee to take a look at it when I get back to see how much needs to be changed. That is one of the main reasons I want the JCW Aero Kit because it is the same for both the Cooper and Cooper S. I think it would be different and open up some more customization ideas.
Wow, good luck on the swap! I know it would weird me out seeing an S with a standard Cooper's exhaust, but the car would still pull off a nice look even with the exhaust changed. You're the first person I've heard say they don't like the center exhaust, though. Personally, I love the center exhaust. It reminds me of a Porsche GT3, and that's my favorite 911 model to date.
