2012 Mini Cooper S

Hi All. I am new to the forum and love all the enthusiasm!

I am thinking about ordering a new 2012 and was wondering if I could get some feedback from others. OFC, ordering your own mini is perfect for **** ppl like me who are looking for specific colors and features. I am thinking of getting the Premium and Sport Package and not much more.

I was looking on truecars.com and they list the MSRP and invoice on the 2012 as less than the 2011's. Does anyone have any realistic invoice or MSRP prices? I know this is a shot in the dark, but I figured I would ask.

Also, historically, do the Mini dealerships tend to steer away from discounts on pre-orders? Especially factory orders?

Thanks in advance!

JMB

Be careful!!! The 2011 packages have been changed, The premium package that was available in 2011 included the HK Sound upgrade, AC climate control, and panaromic Sun roof. 2012 does not, The premium package includes many things that you may not want. There are postings on this site that provide this information. Good Luck

MSRP for the 2012 MCS is $23,800, $100 more than the 2011 (they "included" the floor mats). A few people on this site have already ordered/waiting for 2012 models, so you won't be pre-ordering it. About discounts, Mini doesn't tend to give them, but if your MA is nice, he or she can probably knock off $500 or so. It's still something!

Like mrluckypa mentioned, the packages have changed, but not dramatically. Your MA will probably have a list of the new options under those packages. If you configure your Mini ahead of time and bring a printed copy of the specs list, you and your MA can discuss what to do with the specs.

Good luck with everything!

I have read through the PDF's posted elsewhere and I have a pretty good understanding where I need to be on this.

Probably order the Sport and Tech package. I heard the sunroofs are noisy anyway.

Has anyone ordered a Mini from a Massachusetts dealership? What is the required deposit for ordering?

Thanks

You will want to work with the MINI of Peabody. Best MINI Dealership on the East Coast, and ranked #2 in the country. I recommend getting the Sunroof. The way they did the packages are just to stream line them for the various models that they have. It was getting to the point where they had a Premium Package for each model (convertible, countryman, clubman, etc etc). Now that they added the Coupe and Roadster, they decided to make all packages work regardless of the type of car, and then make those additional addons like the sunroof just be extra.

All told, what I originally ordered (which was supposed to be a 2011) got ordered and built as a 2012. The MSRP of the base model went up $100, but due to the price changes of packages and differences, I actually saved about $400.

If you go to the MINI of Peabody ask for Mike Bruno (MA) or Kevin Barkhouse (Sales Manager). Tell them Pete sent ya. =)

Thanks for the input.

Peabody is about 70 miles from where I live and I have been there before. What was the deposit you had to put down to order?

Yeah, it's $1000 to order and counts towards whatever down payment you plan on putting on it once the car arrives.

I have an 11 JCW with a sunroof, it makes no noise but it sure is nice to crack it open to the first position to suck some heat out on warmer or humid days. When its open all the way its noiser, but its outside noise, not noise from the sunroof. Also, if the car is parked in the sun its nice to be able to leave the sunroff open to the first position to let heat vent out.

Wait, what? Floormats are included on the 2012? The Crevier guy I ordered mine from told me it was $200 dollars for the floor mats, some change holder thing and the air valve stems.

I bought the black carpeted Mini floormats for $100, and they are not worth half that. I ditched 'em for Cocomats quick. Whatever you do, don't buy them.

You gotta love that $2000 mark-up at Crevier. We bought elsewhere, but alas I won't be getting that LoJack thing and a boot liner, dang!

My dealer told me that the reason for the $100 markup on the 2012 is that they now "include" the floor mats.

Yes, the floor mats are standard on 2012. The $100 is factored into the base price of the car. The mats came in sealed plastic bags inside the boot.

The sunroof is absolutely worth it. One of the best sunroofs on any car out there. I believe it states it covers 60% of the roof. Both sections will vent, and there is a fairly large windscreen for it that will pop up when opened. I guess it comes down to a matter of personal opinion...but for someone who has gone from a car with one to a car without, the sunroof was one of the biggest things I missed. It wasn't even a thought as to if I was getting one or not. 100% yes, 100% worth it
