Alta CAI = Check Engine Light ?

Just installed the ALTA CAI on my 2011 Mini Cooper S and on the third drive out the check engine light came on. This is an otherwise stock car with 1500 miles on it. I bought the ALTA because I was led to believe that the CEL wouldn't be an issue. Any thoughts on this ? Anything I can do to remedy the problem ?

Thank You Guys !

Hmm hopefully someone will chime in. Haven't heard anything about this before?? Go to an autozone to see what the code is??

Did any sensor or hoses get knocked loose or left off in the install? Double check all connections.

+1, if ANY hose is loose or not connected properly you WILL get a CEL.

Replace the Alta CAI with stock to see if you still get the CEL. If it goes away, the problem is with the Alta CAI. If it stays on, the problem is somewhere else.

Go to auto zone and reinstall stock after you go to auto zone.

A couple of check points:
Did you remove the excess oil off the foam filter? If not, your MAF sensor could be dirty.
Double check the air intake into the turbo to make sure it didn't wiggle loose when you installed the CAI. These are a little notorious for slipping off. IPA and a real hose clamp are your best friends here.

Regardless of the fix, you'll still need to have the code read and reset. I'd expect it to be a P2188 if it is CAI related.

I second checking the MAF sensor. It probably has oil on it from the new foam filter.

CEL parameters.

I would check your hose connections to make sure they are sealed and then make sure you installed the MAF sensor correctly.. did you detach the battery before doing the install?

If you removed the maf then put it back on I would check to make sure its the right way, theres an arrow showing directon of flow. Then check all plugs and hoses.

YES, direction of flow arrow.. very good point. and clean your MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner or elctronic cleaner (can be bought at your local auto parts store). and my Intake came slightly loose from my turbo before, so i wouldnt doubt it would happen to someone else.
