R56 filling in oil (R56 2008)
What a load of complete B.S. This isn't a 2-stroke diesel engine.
I can go 5000 miles before an oil change and not have to add one drop of oil to the crankcase in between changes. I love how MINI is basically saying, "you got a Monday build." It seems with the PSA engines you either get a great built engine or a pile of scrap. There is no middle ground and it's a 50/50 roll of the dice. I think I would rather have my engine rebuilt than take a gamble on another R56 down the road.

i'm sorry, but a 36 month old car of any make shouldn't be burning oil, especially when the manufacturer is telling not to bring it in for service for 16,000. i went thru the same issue with my wife's vw passat when they told me "oh yes it is normal to burn up to a quart of oil every 3K miles". B.S.
my little S had 79k in 36 months. i usually drive around 30 k per year. funny how for the first 78,000 miles i never burned oil

Don't forget it may not be burning oil or getting past the rings it is the crappy PCV system that allows the carbon buildup on the DI motors. That oil mist has to go somewhere and if you get it misting enough and it gets "burned" through the motor with the fuel it will eventually lower the level. Every car and situation is different.
