Hey Guys & Gals

I need some advice on this one..I want to install a heatshield on turbo and found one at Autozone..I will attach the link below. Also, would you consider this a mod or even a very weak mod??????.... The product is Thermo Tech Turbo Insulating Cover.....

I think it depends on what your goal is. If you're looking to keep your hood scoop from warping, MINI makes a heat sheild now, which I believe runs pretty close to the price of the Thermo/Tec wrap that you posted a link to.

I haven't used this product, so I can't say how well it works, but my first thought is that it may prevent cooking air from getting to the turbo more than help keep the temps down. I'm sure someone else can weigh in with more info though.

I put the turbo wrap on my MINI and have had no problems with the hood scoop sagging. The insulating blanket also allows the turbo to respond a little quicker.

Thanks for the advice and sorry about the link my bad..I will def go with the wrap just because it sounds like a good PM product..Also, I cannot wait to save up cash for the AP tuning....Again thank you and NJ MINI for the replies. It is nice to see forums like this where most of the members really care and are there to help out....

Quick Question:

In the first link from the waymotorworks website, there appears to be a factory hood insulator already installed. Does anyone know if this is for temperature or sound? My 2010 Clubman S doesn't have one installed, but I am not the first owner so I do not know what was removed by the previous owner.

Holy Cow I wasn't ready for the price tag on that wrap lol... looks like it would be worth it though

 

Just installed the hood thermal wrap from Mini Mania. The wrap is held on with a sticky backside and then you use a very sticky foil tape for the edges. The hood scoop would get very hot and was worried about warping so i tried this. I took the mini out for a drive and the scoop and was warm to the touch but not like it was before. This product works
