You don't even have to hit it twice. Just hold it on first press. and if you keep holding it, the sunroof tilts open too....if you have one. I do this all the time when walking toward the car to let some of the heat out before I get there.
Don't think you can close it with the fob though.

I have a 2005 and I have to hit it once to unlock the drivers side..twice to unlock the passenger and third time to roll down windows.

The key fob will not roll them up but I can put my key in the drivers side door and turn it to the right and it will roll up the windows.

You can do the same with a gen 2 and use the physical key in the drivers door lock to roll the windows up from outside.

If you head to the electrical modifications section you can see how to reprogram the car to have the windows roll up via the FOB. It is a function they disabled in the US (I am sure for liability reasons). Not a trivial task that requires a programming cable, but it can be done.

Yes the car has to be reprogrammed to have remote close option. We have the ability to program this option for you if you are at a MINI event, or our shop. Otherwise you have to buy some pricey software to do it.

I got your switch that allows me to roll up the windows from the switch without holding it...
Can you program mine to do it from the key? All gen MINI's?

Where's your next event?
