Sold my Mini, got a 135i

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who answered my questions in the past and all the other info I learned from this website. I might be back one day but for now I'm done with Mini.

I had a 2007 Regular Cooper Automatic and in the 14 months I owned it and only 5,000 miles put on, it just kept having issues coming up and the warranty ends in 2 months and I don't want to pay for out of warranty repairs.

Anyway I just replaced it with a brand new 2011 135i with M-Sport pkg, DCT 7 speed Auto, premium pkg, winter pkg in Space Gray on Black Leather. I got an amazing deal so it's worth the little extra payments. It's a blast to drive and fast as he'll. Can't wait to JB3 it.

Anyway thanks again for all the info. I might be back one day since I still love Minis and they are so fun to drive. Just like the thought of warranty. Hope my 135's N55 motor won't have the HPFP issues as the old N54.

Have fun. I'm going in the other direction. I had a 2008 135i with the M Sport package. Make sure you avoid all potholes. The run flats and small sidewalls on the sport package will mean you will blow out a tire as soon as you hit a pothole at anything over 40 MPH. I loved the engine and speed, but I missed the utility of a hatch and double the MPG. A little slower, but a car that suits me better. I should add, I had a 2003 Mini Cooper S before I went to the BMW, so I'm going full circle.

I know about the run flats. I have a 2008 328i also as my daily driver with sports package and it has run flats. But I have 19's on it most of the year that are not run flats and they are crazy skinny at 235/35ZR19 and 265/30ZR19 in the rear and I avoid everything I can. Always keep an eye on the road. I'm sure I'll own another Mini. Just not the first year of a new model. MPG was great in the Mini. The 135i mpg sucks but not my daily driver as I have some plans for it.

Nice car, I'm sure you won't have any regrets!

Only thing the MINI may be better than the 135i is the gas mileage, but I'm sure the mpg difference won't be bank busting either. My MCS has been getting around 26 mpg combined lately. When I had an auto 335i loaner for a while it was getting about 21 mpg driving it pretty hard. I'm sure the N55 and DCT will be much better.

I was torn between the 135i and the mini when I bought mine. I test drove the 135 and the power was amazing. Chose the mini in the end basically because of better mileage, great handling and cheaper maintenance (I hope) in the long run. It's just a blast to drive.

The 135i is one heck of a car though. I drool over the 1M.

I would have got a 1M in a heart beat since it's base price is only about $3,500 more than my 135's MSRP but the wife can't drive a manual so that's why I got the 135i with the DCT auto. Plus BMW has some deals on the 2011s since the 2012 1 series are just about here and they don't sell well.

Congrats man, 135i is a great car. I'm keeping the Cooper until well into the next-gen 1-series.
