Omg Are You Seriouse????

so i was looking at tire rack for new rims and and tires so i can replace my runflats and rims right when i get my new 2011 mcs so i can get the most out of my oem rims and tires. but the rims and tires where pretty cheap but wow did the extras add up fast.. cost 300 for the tire pressurs sensors and everything came out to 1000.. so does anyone know a good website on get good rims and tires for cheap? and whats with this sensor? Do i really need it? and i also would like to know, for all the people that took off the oem run flats and rims where did you sell them? i cant figure out a good place to sell my oem runflats and rims..

Plz Help me

TireRack is pretty competitively priced.. unfortunately all that stuff does add up. Look at Discount Tire Direct and Tread Depot (google for the exact addresses, not sure off the top of my head.) I recently got a new set of tires through Alex at TireRack and he was very helpful, shipping was trouble free and they went out the same day.

You could probably live without tire pressure monitor sensors (TPMS) if you just keep an eye on your tire pressures manually, as you should anyhow.

As far as selling them, try the Marketplace section here on NAM.

Only if the wheels are TPMS compatable. The inside of the rim where the
sensor goes has a flat mounting area.

Doubt you will beat Tire Rack prices. Most wheel / tire sets for my 03 MCS I have priced out run at least $900.00.

How much do you think the oem 16" 6-star spoke black rims and runflat tires would go for? With nothing more than 5 miles on them

Every time I read a post from you I get this impression that you are way excited and eager and getting ahead of yourself. Do you know already you hate the runflats, or do you just want to switch them because people on the forums complain about them?

Tires are something that have to be replaced anyway, and it sounds like you have a lot of things you want to do. Unless you just know you hate the runflats already, consider waiting and see what you think. You might decide your money is better spent on other goodies until you actually need tires.

Or, you might decide to keep a set of spare rims & tires for auto cross or the track You are only like 1.5hrs from VIR after all!

It's cool that you are so excited, MINIs are awesome and you are going to love it. But keep a clear head My husband and I both have our runflats and we don't mind them at all. Although I must admit the ones on my 2011 ride better.

no the thing is i dont care about the runflats at all. i just planned on changing the rims to http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Price
right when i get the car since the rims from the dealers are horribly horrribly priced.. and the rf's wont fit the new rims anyway so i need to get rid of them and the oem rims and i was just looking for the best way to do that and make a good profit off the oem so im not paying a arm and a leg for the new rims... but most of the other stuff im looking into is for future buys. im making a list off future mods to get.. so ill probably start installing other mods after the two week mark or when i finish the break-in but thank you for your concern. but im not actually going around and buying a bunch of stuff, i just like to do my research about every mod possible. and it keeps me occupied and not thinking about my mini which i am very excited and eager about lol

I have the OEM 17" Cone Spokes with all season Conti RF's on my new MINI and they are much much better than expected. My son's 09 Clubby with 15" OEM wheels and all season run flats were not good. I fact they only lasted about 25000 miles. He just replaced them with regular all season tires and there was a big improvement. My point being, unless you really need 17" wheels and tires, or you hate the look of the OEM's, you may want to give them a try for a few miles before you make the switch. Regarding Tire Rack, my son looked into it and decided he wanted some Hancook tires. After pricing them out and looking at paying for shipping, mounting and balancing, they were only going to be about $50 cheaper than purchasing locally, so he talked Pep Boys into matching the Tire Rack price on tires and shipping.

im really hoping that i go to the dealer and look at the 16's and decide that i like them more in person but as of right now i feel like they are just kinda ugly and dont go along with the theme of the car at all.. they should deff have more sportier oem rims instead of like the bulky look to them all

Good to hear! I was getting a little worried. I really like the look of those Focal rims. I understand though, I have been stalking the forums ever since I got my MCCS... plotting and planning and pining. So much to do!!

Yeah, rims can be crazy expensive. I am glad I like my infinite stream wheels. At first I wasn't sure because I really wanted black rims, but I have fallen in love with them.

Have you checked the market section of this forum? Or the forums of clubs near you? Craigslist? People are always selling wheels.

Speaking of people within driving distance of you... These are in Thaxton, VA if you like them, and they seem to have good rubber on them.

http://tarheelminis.org/showthread.p...TPMS-installed.

And not sure where these are, but they sure are pretty... I think they are in Maryland.

$1000 is definitely not a lot for a set of wheels and tires. The bottom of the barrel for a new wheel is $100 +/- $20 and $75 +/- $10 for a tire.

After having made the mistake of buying the absolute bottom end in the past and since then spending entirely too much time researching, shopping for and ogling wheels I would the benchmark price for getting a decent set of wheels/tires on these cars is ~$1500.

Everyone is going to have there own opinions about how to go about modding a car. I am of the opinion that you should do one thing at a time, do it very well, and then move on (especially when on a tight budget). Were I you I would forgot modding other parts of the car and use the money to really get the wheels/tires done right. Or if the wheels/tires aren't actually the most important part of the car for you then focus on something else.

You only buy a spare set once so why buy four hunks of garbage that have Chinese rubber wrapped on them?

I would just use your run-flats till they're worn out and then buy a set of quality wheels and tires.

If you have use for winter wheels, keep the OEM's for that. Discount tire actually paid something for our new runflats.

For wheels how about the Rota RB's I mention in this thread...

You need to spend a little to get good wheels, just do it.

Hope this works... I just stole the URL from the post. There are other photos there that show tread depth and some close ups. They aren't red and black though. If I see any pop up I will send the links your way.

You should join up though, THMMC is pretty active. We have lots of fun events in the middle and western part of NC, not too far for you to drive. There are even some up at VIR.

Yes, the Run Flats will fit on aftermarket rims. The difference is in the side wall thickness, not the rim.

Oh, you can get the TPMS sensors from OutMotoring for $230.00.

yay i found the tires that im gonna get for sure since they are the most important part of this buy im getting a good reviewed set that can be used all season. now its just a search for some good rims. and yay im only doing one mod at a time and then getting my money back where i feel comfortable with it then going on to the next one. so im gonna keep my modding at a pretty steady pace

What you can do if you are not keeping the 16" wheels for dedicated winter use - is have the tire sensors swapped over to your wheels. They are integral with the valve stem.

Or buy new sensors.......
