So far i've driven my car for 4500 miles, and to me the engine is a little noisy, reminds me of my old bmw with bad lifters problems, does your mcs sound like this as well?

Sounds about right. Even with an after market tune it sounds a bit like that. Nothing to worry about. But if you're really worried about it, your factory warranty will cover getting it checked out.

 

I also have a 2011 MCS, 2000 km till so far, I also notice that the engine is not really sounding happy when its cold and starting up. I also can hear a small turbo whistle which will disappear after its warmed up.

normally when I get in the car I press the sportsbutton right after starting the car. I notice that the car sometimes jerks (not smooth) a bit the first meters. It is only during the first minut or so, its gone after a few hundred meter of driving.

Yea mine has 10700miles on it and it is a loud booger... We took it to the dealer for the 10k oil change and told them, they just tightened the timing chain and some other things. but the sound is still there.

 

I grew up with old MGs and Triumphs - if it wasn't making lots of noise - it was not running!

The mini noises are a huge step up IMO.

1300+ miles here and he definitely does not like cold starts! Luckily we don't have too many days like that here in Savannah.

 

Yes, I have also noticed that it gets loud on startup when it's cold out. Ditto on the jerking. They're tiny jerks - I'm glad I'm not the only one, I was starting to think that maybe I needed to get it checked out.

 

This sounds about the same as mine. I've also noticed when its cold outside, in the 30's or below, it runs/idles kinda rough for a while. This all seems to be fairly normal for MINIs in general form what I've read.

 

I get a distinct, crunchy engine noise after a cold start and in sport mode. It happens just after I put it in gear.

 

I have the same noise and a couple of weeks back the noise became louder at start up and it would last for longer, I changed the oil and filter and the noise went away after that

 

Isn't that just the noise cold injectors make? Not an expert here, by any means, so take me with a healthy dose of salt.
