I'm so glad to see another person with almost the identical car I got, minus the checkered roof. All my family was making fun of me saying I was going through a mid-life crisis, but when I saw the options for black lights, wheels and spice orange I couldn't resist ordering.
Glad to see A) A forum for Mini's and B) a specific thread for the SOs
Hope your enjoying your Mini! I somehow missed your post..... Did you keep the stripes? I have gone another step further with the checks and added the checked mirror caps.....why not! Yes, the black lights are nice!
Today I saw my first Spice Orange in the wild. MCS with white roof, silver Minilite-style wheels, parked in front of Burch's Shoes at Oakway Mall in Eugene, Oregon. Does it belong to anyone here?
You're on notice: In another month there will be two Spice Orange MCSes in Eugene.
I love the black headlight housings! I just ordered my spice orange MCS, but didn't get the black housings because, unlike the 2011, they now require Xenons and white turn signals (or the Sport Package) which makes the black headlight housings very expensive whichever way you do it. It's a far cry from the no cost option on the 2011. Does anyone know if the 2011 black housings would fit a 2012 with halogen headlights? Whatever they charge for them in the parts department, they have to be cheaper than what it costs you to get them on the 2012.
I think you could never get the black housings in halogen. It would affect the light. The reason the xenon can be black is because the light does not use the reflective part of the housing. I know with my 2011 I could not get the black housing because I got adaptive xenons.

I thought the black headlight housings were a no cost option with the standard headlights on the 2011? I just want to do the same thing on my 2012 and replace the chrome housings with the 2011 black housings. I got my VIN # today so progress is being made!
Someone grabbed a nice photo of my Coupe S from this weekends Metroplex MINI event here in Dallas. Shows the black headlight housings some more. I love this car
Had a delightful time at MINIs In the Ozarks 2011. While enjoying the hills and color of the Ozarks, snapped this fall shot.
Still loving it, and enjoyed it even more during the Ozark drives. My wife claimed I was doing 70 in one of the tight curves -- I wasn't watching the speedo. Crossed 9000 miles on this trip - in 4 months of ownership, I am getting lots of time to enjoy it.
Just laid in some Blizzaks for winter. Will put them on these rims and then get 16" or 17" rims for summer tires come spring.
Ken, it was great meeting you folks at MITO. Glad you had a safe trip home. My Blizzaks are targeted for Black Friday installation...if the wx cooperates.
I'm up in your neighborhood every other week or so. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you.
