OK so what are these????

Just forward of my shifter in the "compartment" there are two rubber bushings sticking on the inside of each rail....what is the point of these things? It looks like there used to be a shelf or something there?

I wondered the same thing when I got my 2008 MCS. Since I saw the same nubs on the MINIs in the showroom with nothing there, just assumed it was a European joke

Really though, they do look like they would be stoppers for a secret compartment door, but I have yet to find the use of them...

There is a shelf that I've seen (on Amazon?) that I believe rests on these "nubs".

I guess I am wondering why the factory would put them there in the first place? surely its not so someone else can make a part to fit there. I guess I can go with the assumption that maybe MINI intended to make something to go there and it has not materialized it.

Think the best guess was always something umbrella related.

I would love to know why the slots are in the door pockets!

Can you post a photo, ideally with a CD in it. I'm not following?

I heard a rumor that the slits on the door card were for mail?

Not sure if that is true or not.

I liked the suggestion that they were for keeping your fondue fork in.....

There is a genuine Mini rubber 'shelf' that fits in the bottom of the centre console, so those nubs probably locate it. I have the Mini rubber shelf, but it's cold and dark and snowy outside, so do you really think I'm gonna go and look?

Wow, thanks for clearing that up! Kind of embarrassed that the answer did not occur to me

The nubs I am referring to are located about 4" above the top of the lighter outlet. the tray you have a photo of is way below the level of the nubs.
