R56 Led Tail Lights

Ok so I have an 08 mini s and want to find some led taillights but the only ones I can find are cheap looking, so the bottom line is has anyone seen r56 looking led taillights or more likely can anyone give me a link to or give me step by step instructions to making custom led taillights

The 2011 has LED taillights. Maybe retrofit?

They're not LED taillights.

They still have halogen brake and turn signal.

The ONLY LED is the light bars for when your taillights are on.

Kinda sad.

OP, if you're talking about aftermarket ones on eBay or something, they're most likely for the 1st gen MINIs. I haven't seen any aftermarket tail lights for the 2nd gen yet.

On the new ones for 2011 they dont swap out because the reverse lights arent part of the brake light housing they are on the bumper

...i've been waiting for almost 3 years! -I don't think it's going to happen. -especially as the R56 body style is constantly being altered. I think when the 1st generations came out there was a lot of excitement from the public and as a result private company's were in a frenzy to create a ton of aftermarket goods.

The one on YouTube is a retrofit of 2011 for 2007-2010 and you can order it from UK newmimistuff.net. I believe one would also need to have the rear foglights so you will have the reverse light.

I'd prolly do it if I had the $$$

Not sure but I don't think so. The YouTube video I believe was done before they even offered selling it. And I know they just started selling it this year

I just bought these earlier this week and they are sitting at home waiting to be installed. I plan on taking a crack at them this evening when I get home from work.

If you like, I'll take some pictures of the process and how it looks after its all said and done (if i can do it without breaking something)

Installed the lights. The process was really easy. I followed the instructions here

Props to ADAMSALTAMINI for putting the guide together.

By the time i finished it was a bit too dark to take a picture. Tomorrow when I'm at work I'll take a few so you can see what they look like on the car.

Aight here is one of them install: I'll head back down to get a few more when they're on.

Only issue I've had so far is my reverse lights do not work. I'll have to check and see if i did something wrong...don't know how though, you just plug in a single connector...

Anyway on to the pictures. I'll update more about the light problem when I have time to look at it.

will do. The only issue I've had so far is the LED reverse lights are not working. So every time I start the car in get the notification that I have a light out. haven't had the time to thuroughly look at it to see if I did something wrong, but will probably do that tonight

the turn signals are LED as well.

It depends on where in PA you are. Im 2 1/2 hrs from Philly, 7 from Pittsburgh. I go to Pitt often though at my fiance's family is from there.

Is it all plug and play? Also, did you get that reverse light working?

It is plug and play. Uses the same adapter that the stock taillights use. I have not had a moment to work on em yet. Have my V1 coming in today so going to actually take some time to install that, and will look at the tails as well.

I also have videos, but just working on trying to convert them to a smaller size. Anyone have any suggestions on good programs that can turn HD video into a more compressed format for posting them?

Also its worth mentioning, the turning signal casing has an outline of the British flag. I didn't notice this when I was purchasing them and actually not even when they were on the car. A friend of mine pointed it out.

Its not really obvious that its there, but at the same time its a nice little addition. You will only notice when up close; I'm looking at my car from my office window and can not make out the flag at all. When I have a break I'll head down and take a close up of it
