I kinda like the look of pw/pw or cr/cr, but my wife says that its just not "right" to order a body color roof on a MINI. What do u guys think? I will be ordering a 2011 MCS. I had a 2005 MCS but turned it in when lease was up. I gotta say that my wife was right about that. she always said i should of bought out the lease. Now i just gotta have another one.

 

I think a lot depends on the color, but there are lots of MINIs that I've seen monochromatic that looked terrific - I owned an EB/EB JCW, and I currently have a LB/LB Clubby, so count me among those who think it can look very good with the matching top.

We have a club member who has a silver Clubby with silver top and that looks stunning!

I've also seen black, green red and yellow cars with matching tops that looked good.

That doesn't mean I'm against white or black top cars either, like I said it depends on the color and what you want the car to look like.....

There are some new colors coming out in '11, I'll be interested to see what you pick.

 

+I vote PW/PW because if I ordered a new MINI today that's what I would get. I've only seen a couple and I really liked both of them. I like the body color roof because with the black pillars and tinted windows it looks like the roof is "suspended".

In the end you have to live with it and there's no such thing as an ugly MINI so get what you want. Keep us posted....

It all really depends on the color. I have astro black all around and it looks great IMO.

 

LB/W roof and mirror caps looks AWESOME with white wheels.

I personally think the contrasting roof really sets the Minis apart. In Classic Mini my pref is BRG/W but for the BMW MINI I just love PW/B and LY/W.

 

I am a white roof fan. I love the look it does not matter what body color. Also I wish there was more options of colors instead of BC, W, and B.

 

Too bad white roofs make it a girls car.........

I prefer a black or white roof. I am not a fan of body colored roofs on MINIs. When I think MINI I think body color with either a black or white roof. If I had to order a new MCS right now I would go with BRG/W.

 

I personally like the body and roof the same.The wheels and trim accents make all the difference...I have the sparkling silver w/chrome mirrors ,hood scoop etc.and 16" Borbet wheels.I've had compliments on the car all the time.It's just a personal preference.

It all boils down to personal choice. I chose body color for my Clubman, and I've seen plenty of other MINIs I like with body color roof. (Case in point, that PW ^^up there.)

I also prefer a black roof over white, but, again, I've seen some with a white roof that look great.

Use that online configurator and find the one that's right for you!

 

I have a PW/PW and I LOVE IT I haven't seen that many PW/PW! I see alot of PW and Black roof...

 

The contrasting roof (red body with white roof, most often) became famous as the BMC factory rally/race team colours in the '60's. The BMC factory Mini team was really the first fully factory supported and organized professional rally team. They were very serious and well prepared every time they competed. They employed the best drivers, the best mechanics, etc. Most competitors considered the tiny little cars as something of a joke at first, but they soon found out how incongruously fast they were. Red and white (sometimes red and black) became an iconic Mini colour combination due to that racing success.

I had a 1970 Mini - red with white roof, what else? - back in the '70's.

Timo Makinen in the Finland rally 1967 - he drove the last 12km like this, flat out and flying in the air over the "yumps", sliding the car sideways so he could see where he was going out the side window. And - he didn't just finish, he was the overall winner in his red and white Mini Cooper S.

A girl's car? I don't think so...

Having an alpine white (not pepper white) non-matching roof is a cool throwback to the older Minis. I love the look of dark silver with a white roof. They were so hard to find when I was shopping for my used MCS. Ended up with the pw/b which was my third choice. You don't see many cars in that shade of white.

I figured that those were the least common color combinations. Boy was I wrong about the pepper white. They seem to be more common than I thought around these parts. Maybe I should have went with brg with the white roof.

Having an all alpine white roof without a sunroof just looks really clean to me. It makes your car stick out of the crowd a bit more. No matter how much I wax my pw/b MINI it never seems clean enough. Plus the black roof shows dust and dirt after a few days.

 

I say go for the body color roof, eliminates part of that "being like everyone else".

 

Purely a matter of personal choice, and if you don't like white, black, or body color roofs, you could pay for a custom spray in any color you like, perhaps pepper white/purple or black/kelly green. So you want to be different, have at it.

 

Thanks for all the replies. I really don't know what combination i will order as of yet. My dealer usually doesn't have body color roof MINI's on the lot so i only get to see them on the road but very rarely. Lots of opinions out there though.

 

Another consideration when selecting a roof color: are you planning on putting racing stripes on the car?

Obviously with a body colored roof you can run any color stripe down the entire length of the car/roof. For a white or black roof, I prefer racing stripes that match the roof color.

Best of luck with this decision - it's one I struggled with as well before placing my order. The funny thing... I changed my mind the day before the car went into production and my sales team was able to make the change in time.

 

I love the look of SS/B, but I wondered about a Black roof and heat on base vinyl seats. So went with HzB/W and now all I need is a white bonnet stripe.

 

I LOVE body color roof. I had a PW/PW and had I been able to find one, my OB would have an OB roof...it's on the list for "things to do someday"...

I agree. There are at least two other Sparkling Silver Minis in my area and both have the Black roof. Mine being body color stands out just a little bit more. Plus I think it looks classy.

In all honesty though I would probably take and color combination mini out there.

 

To each their own, all three of my MINI's have been monotone: RoyalGrey/RG, AstroBlack/AB, and ChiliRed/CR. I am digging the 2011 JCW only red roof on some color cars.
