Missing Button between Sport & DSC/DTC Buttons

My car has a blank between the Sport & DTC buttons. What am I missing? And more importantly, what can I do with it?

I can't find any mention of it in my owner's manual & I didn't come up the right search terms to find anything about it on NAM.

Cleeq on Sport Mode Performance.

Notice anything similar to your ride?

I plan on putting in a Passport 9500Ci and having that button be the silencer.

It is the button to disable the engine Auto Start/Stop feature that is not available in the US. Do a forum search for more info about it.

The buttons you are talking about are momentary contact and are connected to the central computer only. They are not what you normally think of as a push button switch. Now with that said others have been able to put a regular push button switch in that center position but had to heavily modify the circuit board under the switch top.

In the US, we say it's for an option that's only available in Europe; in Europe, they say it's for an option that's only available in the US. Little known secret -- that spot is not for a button or switch, it's where you plug in the flux capacitor.

yes, my car came with I believe an extra set of stickers. I'm sure you can find some at your local dealership.

Doesn't matter to me what's underneath, I just need a basic cover that depresses the silence button, which is what is there...nothing high tech.

I don't know what you have in mind, but you can get a functional middle button by purchasing an extra switch assembly (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...32&hg=61&fg=35), remove one of the push buttons and use it to replace your middle filler piece. You'll have a bit of work to hook it up electrically.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but has anyone replaced the middle button and added a factory switch (so it looks like and acts just like the other two buttons) for some project they have done?

I'm curious as to what part I would need to make that middle button functional and how it would be wired. If nobody has done it, might be something I'll snap a few pictures of.
