My Mini and the Dealer and DoS...

So yesterday me and some friends went to take some pics of our cars in a parking structure. It was fun and everything. I was looking at my cf hood scoop and decided to open up my hood. Now I just got my hpfp replaced last Friday so its been 1 week since i got my car back from the dealer. I have not opened up my hood till last night. Oh btw my car is finally fixed from cold start issues =]. Anyways back on topic! I found out my DoS intake was not put on right into the hole of the cowl and the part that goes into the turbo was almost off! And guess what? The part that gets the front grill air that shoots threw the bottom of the intake has been broken off!!!!! Now Im sucking in hott air from the bottom!!
How could they have not told me that they broke it! also my cowl was not put back on right! This is very unprofessional of this dealer!!!! So what should I do? btw the dealer is Nick Alexander Mini here in La. I got a service review from them and put a very bad rating on how the mechanic preformed and explained why. Hopefully they will by me a new one because this is so unprofessional!!!

Sorry im so mad =[ I saved up so much money for the intake. And im just a college student. Its not like I have money to throw away!

What do you guys think?

-Chris

That sucks but if it was my dealer, they'd probably pull something like, "that part shouldn't be there, we didn't know how to work on it." There's still no reason they shouldn't have told you they broke it even if they weren't going to replace it.

It just makes me mad. How do you work on a car and not know how to take off an intake. It looks like they obviously where lazy and just pushed my intake aside to work on what needs to be done rather than taking it apart. I even left it over night and didnt rush them. If they wanted to they could have kept it an extra day and I would be happy as long as nothing is broken and everything is fixed.

Hi, it's Clint from DoS.

Just send the CAI housing & elbow back to us and we'll fix the CAI for you, free of charge.

I just PM'd you with the shipping address.

Clint you are the man! I love how you and DoS treats customers!

I will ship it some time this week. But should I wait and see what the dealer has to say? Before I ship it?

Just tell the dealer that you want another tech working on your car in the future and that Defenders of Speed agreed to fix the part as a courtesy to your dealer. Basically, DoS is always trying to keep customers happy and to befriend as many MINI dealers as possible. Carelessness wrecked your CAI, but seeing how the part was broken could teach us some things that we've never seen before.

If you ship it FedEx ground or USPS Priority Mail I could get your CAI next day and probably get this back to you by the end of the week.

Ok will do thanks a lot Clint. Ill probably ship it with UPS since my dads company has an account with them. So it will probably say my name or swisstex on it.

swisstexmini sorry to hear about your misfortune with the dealer. I actually had the opposite experience with my local dealer last week when I brought my MINI in for its first service. After installation of the DoS CAI we never got the turbo inlet hose to butt up against the turbo 100%. A few days after I got my car back from the dealer, I decided to open the hood and take a look around. Much to my surprise the tech that worked on my car was able to snug the turbo inlet tube onto the turbo all the way.

And that is after they gave me some grief about about my "aftermarket intercooler."

Sorry to hear about that. I've only been to South Bay MINI once and Assael MINI many times and have had bad experiences at both. At least you got your cold start rattle fixed!

i heard Assael (I believe it's Mini of Monrovia now) was really bad. my experience there buying was not great either, so thats why i drove out to Irvine Mini to purchase my '10 MCS. I'm surprised Nick Alexander Mini was not put to par.

Thanks for the heads up and sorry to hear again, but glad to hear DoS is stepping up and offering the free and helpful service.

I have nothing to add to your story, but just wanted to note that I had fantastic service from Clint at DoS as well. High marks from me too.

Yes Clint is the best! So is DoS!

I am very thankful that they are going to fix it.

hmmm well I haven't herd from the dealer yet about my email to them. Usually they will call me or send a email back.

Oh btw yea the cold start issue has been fixed. The cause was a bad HPFP.

I just wish none of this happened.

How is the Irvine dealer? Most minis I see always have the Irvine license plate frame.

Since I bought two MINIs (me and wife) from Irvine MINI, I had great experience with sales people and also service dept. At least, I think they know how to handle customers and what they are going to do about MINI

not to steal this thread but,
I haven't been a DoS customer in the past but stuff like this will make me consider them in the future.

DoS would be top of my list for a CAI due to all the positive results, but I'm unsure of gains with the RMW tune.

DOS has the best customer service that I have ever experinced. Super fast shipping. Even emailed me a tracking number right away, without me even asking for it.

Clint is very helpful and always answers the phone. If not, he will call you right back.
That shows you what kind of guy he is that he is going to fix your DOS CAI for free.
I am glad that i bought my CAI from DOS. There are alot of CAI to choose from. But I know I made the right choice.
I LOVE the way my JCW Mini sounds with the DOS CAI.

I only wished that everybody that I buy parts from would be more like Clint.
