Service Date on Start-up

I have 6700 miles on my 2009 Clubman S. The service date that shows at start-up is 11/2009, but according to the Service Advisor, my first service should be at 15,000 miles or one year, which would be 8/2010. How can I get this straightened out, or does it matter?

I believe the owner's manual has instructions on how to change those days with the turn signal stalk button thingamajig.

Service Date on Start-up

I checked the manual, and did not find a way to change the service date that is displayed on start-up.

Since that date is overdue, I'm guessing the indicator is red? That would seem to imply that a service has been missed.

Anyway, you'll need to find the instructions for resetting the oil change counter. Search here or some of the other MINI sites. The procedure for resetting the oil counter is supposed to work for the other indicators.

Thanks, I will see what I can find. The dealer says that no service has been missed.

how long have you had the car?

oil service will be when the computer says OR 12 months, which ever comes first.

And yes if you do service at 12 months and the computers says it is time again 4 months and few miles later the maint' plan DOES cover that . . .

Don't reset the countdown until the dealer sees it. As if you reset it, you'll miss the service that your MINI is asking for, and if you do it later, you'll have to pay for it.

I got my 2009 Clubman S in 8/09. The service light on start-up says 11/09, so that does not make any sense. I am going to talk to a service advisor at the dealer to see if it is anything to worry about.

Thanks -

It sounds as if the dealer did not set it properly when you purchased the car, as it shows the first service to be 3 months after pickup. That is not correct.

I spoke with a service advisor and that is what they said. They offered to re-set it anytime I am in for service.
