adjust headlight angle 2007 Base Cooper

Hi...I have purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper Base (used @ 9900 miles) with standard halogen headlights. I do not like how far they throw the beam in front of my car. Essentially the majority of both beams lands approx 25-30 ft in front of me. I find myself going to brights allot of the time even in city driving. Can I adjust the beam to come up a little? if so, how? There is no mention of it in my manual. Thank you! Pat in SW WI

Behind the headlight assembly under the hood, there's a big white plastic screw, just turn it one way or another to adjust up or down. Just park facing a wall to get an idea how much you're adjusting them. https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/attachments/coupe-talk-2007/19779d1175636904-how-do-you-adjust-raise-the-headlights-hid-adjustment-screw.jpg

Here are the basics behind how the headlight are to be aimed. This is generic so it does not go into the detail of how to do teh actual adjustment but give the distances and hieght instructions.

When measuring the center of the bulb there should be a little bullseye on the lens that indicates the center of the bulb.

THANK YOU EVERYONE....

I made the adjustment, and it worked perfectly. I ordered a pair of "Silverstar" Sylvania? I think? replacement bulbs from Amazon.com for my stock halogens to increase headlight beam, length, width, and angle. MY NEXT COOPER will have xenons.

I had to do the same thing soon after purchasing my Mini. The headlights were aimed really low! I want to replace my bulbs too!

Can anyone confirm this applies to the 2010 models of the MC? I find the white plastic screw in the picture but wonder about the other screws (metal) that hold what appear to be adjusting points around the headlight assembly. Is it possible that they are merely adjusting fixtures for alignment of the assembly with the ports in the bonnet? Or might one of them be for horizontal adjustments?

In the absence of a response to my question, I tried the white screw and indeed it does adjust the vertical. Not having a convenient place that is level, I raised both lights slightly and will go for a ride to see the results. Anything will be an improvement provided I haven't raised them too much.

The adjustment for horizontal remains a mystery. Anyone with knowledge could help??
