How do I replace bonnet beltline?

I did something stupid yesterday , I was washing my car and tried to open the bonnet with the wipers in the upward position. I messed up the beltline bad. I looked up the part and is about 25 dollars so no big deal. Does anyone know how to replace it? Is it just pull the old one and push down the new one in place?

Any help will be appreciated.

Yep, sure is..... BUT before you push down on it, make sure you have it even. If I remember correctly, the moulding hangs over the edge by juuuust a hair on both sides.

I say that because I’ve had to remove mine several times and each time I had to redo it because I had it one way or the other and you can’t just slide it over.

What is the beltline vis a vis the wiper blades? I've never heard the term used for that area. Beltline to me is a design feature that runs from the rear of a car to the front on each side of the car. Many cars in the past had a chrome piece to enhance the beltline.

The moulding on the back of the hood is just that... a rear hood moulding. The big plastic pieces that hide the wipers is the cowl panel and yes, beltline usually designates a belt moulding which is the moulding at the base of the side glass from front to rear.

Many thanks Mark. I've had this car going on four years and never really took notice of that chrome piece at the back of the hood. And because now I took a close look at it I can easily see why it is called the beltline with the chrome encircling the car at that level. Cheers.

You're welcome... and to think that the last almost 30 years of my life was being wasted in the bodyshop business.
