Sunday, bloody Sunday!
This morning, while trying to keep a stupid flower vase from flipping and dumping out all the water on the floor, I lost control of the mini on wet streets and plowed into a tree without every hitting the brakes. i seem to be ok (scratches, and bruises on my arms and chest)but the mini is mega-fubared. I hit the tree square on the right hand side of the centerline of the car. destroyed the right front completely, pushed the passenger front wheel backward into the body and the front driver's side wheel went forward. there was plastic and glass all over. all i can say is airbags work. the tow truck driver said she's scrap now and is sure she's headed to the salvage yard. I just want to thank you kind folk that are members of this site for all your help. I loved the car but I don't know if i will get another one or go for something else. Thanks

Wow ! MINI is crashed and you have a youngster going thru the "terrible two's as well ? That's a double dose of trouble !
Happy to hear you are ok, and that once again, our cars are made so well. Maybe - it's a testament for a Clubman in your future ?
Good luck and be sure to come back and visit once in a while.

nervous, what constitutes frame damage?
I lost control of my mini sunday and smashed dead straight into a tree. the tow truck driver sadly said it was totalled (the front end of the car was basically destroyed from the impact. the front passenger tire got pushed all the way back to where the door meets the fender piece. I didn't want to disturb the scene so I didn't even try to open the hood. The engine started then puked out some fluid of some sort when the tow truck driver had to turn the wheel a little to get it on the flat bed. he couldn't do it without the motor running. Im so glad mini makes a car that has well designed crumple zones or whatever and good airbags. the driver airbag deployed. anyway, the adjuster called me today to tell me he was on his way to the wrecking yard and I happen to tell him the right front is completely destroyed and he said you'd be surprised what can be fixed these days. I love the car but in no way do I want the thing attempted to be fixed. IMO, the car would never drive the same again and I would be seriously scared to put my 2 year old son in it after the smashing it took. here's a tally from what I could see from the outside. needs a whole new bumper, grill, air dam, hood, windshield, front passenger quarter panel. passenger door (creased in front and wouldn't open), everything on the passenger side back to the glove box. maybe a new tranny (bent or broken half shafts), new suspension parts (looks like the passenger side stuff got sheared clean off and the driver's side bent forward. she also needs at least the front passenger wheel and tire. inside the car my arms must have went past the wheel on impact because both turn stalks were broken off, the govebox was loose and the secret compartment was broken. sorry I dont have any pictures because I was pretty shaken up and the guy towed the car off before she could go home and find a camera. Thanks for listening to my rant guys. I just dont want a rebuilt dangerous car with no resale value and its a lease. I want another mini but I've decided to get a low mileage R53 and motor on. what are you guys opinions on a possible repair?

Based just on your description of the damages nobody will be driving your MINI again. I attached some info on the uni body.

thanks for taking the time to read that. The mini was a great car but I cant see any shop justifying the liability of rigging those kind of suspension fixes and saying its road worthy and safe. I think nowadays with unibody's a car is muchmore safe because it absorbs most of the impact and damage that people suffered back in the rigid frame days. I dont even know whats busted up under the bonnet but theres no way my son would ever ride in a car that took that kind of damage. I couldn't in good consious put him in it. thanks guys
