yes, another newb

I did it, got rid of my Miata and just bought a 2010 MC. My wife is questioning my sexual preference as I type this. I was already to buy an MCS but after driving one, I could not live with the turbo lag. The MC is fast enough. I brought home a Pepper White/Black, Bonnet Stripes, Premium Package, the Stupid Bluetooth Thing and Cloth Sport Seats. I like it a lot! I can't wait till it's broken in and I can drive it hard. The disturbing thing is that on semi-rough roads the dash rattles (only 276 miles). I'm sure that when I take it in for service they can fix it. I know I'll end up with moditis.

Congrats on your new MINI! I have had mine for 6 months - sold my BMW 323 convertible to buy this and my wife thought I was beyond crazy - but I have no regrets.

Regarding turbo lag, I wonder if you had the sport button on SPORT? When this is not in SPORT the throttle response is sluggish. It is a different with the button pressed. I have owned turbo autos before and have never had one with as little lag as the MINI S. But, I agree the justacooper is plenty spunky on its own. Happy Motoring!!!

In a woman's eyes the Miata and MINI may cause questionable sexual preference.

In a man's eyes, both the Miata and MINI are some of the best handling cars dominating most competition in it's class.

We may be a bit biased, but I believe most of us will tell you, you made the right choice.

Turbo lag? I'd be more worried about melting hood scoops than turbo lag... Welcome though!

Congratulations on your MC purchase. I think you will have a fun time but you really should make sure you keep the sport button on, it's so much quicker.

Like Binibiker ("Turbo lag?"), I wonder what you are talking about. My '09 has no turbo lag. The pedal feel and response is different in "non-sport" mode but still, I notice no "lag." Especially in "Sport" mode.

What are you waiting for? If you are off the dealer's lot, it's time to drive hard. Break it in the way you intend to drive it.
