Boom! First 500+ mile tank with modifications (in sig).

NOTE: the trip computers mpg calculation is deadly accurate since I adjusted it using the method described in a thread here on NAM.

Care to share this adjustment you speak of? Or a link? Would be appreciated much!
Also, after my last tank lasting something like 250 miles I have been striving for better mileage this tank. Currently have about half a tank and already 225 miles so I'm hoping to get 400 out of this one... My goal is for 30mpg

Wait what mods in sig? Do you mean the first to document a 500 mile tank cause I got you beat by a hot minute.

I meant my own personal first 500 mile tank after mods. I'm posting from my phone so I'm not sure if the sig is showing... NM Stage 2, Evolve catless DP, Helix FMIC, 2nd cat and resonator delete.

As for the fuel consumption adjustment for the trip computer...

I really think a catless dp, intake, and exhaust actually improves mileage a lot.

Theoretically they should, if you can keep your foot out of the pedal. That's the main problem. It's not what you drive, it's how you drive it.

Last tank was about 540 miles. Not as good as the previous one of 576, but I didn't go as far into the reserve either. Still, 42 MPG ain't too shabby.

I didn't make 500 the previous tank, because it was more convenient for me to fill with three carrots left on the gauge than two. I was less than 10 miles short, though, and I could have easily made it before getting down to two carrots.

This tank I drove a bit less conservatively. In large part due to forgetting something at home and needing to run back there at higher speed than I usually drive. I did make 500 miles, though. The gauge dropped to two red carrots at 498, but then went back to three orange ones. It was probably something about being parked at an angle. It finally went back to two red ones at 510 miles, and I wound up at 537 when I filled up. Just over 40 MPG this time, which is close to my worst so far...

567.2 on this last tank. Put just over 13 gallons in, making it just over 43 MPG.

Down to two red carrots at ~540 miles. Filled up at 562, putting 12.4 gallons in. 45 MPG for that tank.

i cant believe you guys get that many miles to a tank. I have an S and maybe i just drive like an *** but the most i have seen is 380 on a tank and thats letting it get down to the last notch on the gauge.

How you drive has a huge effect. High speeds and quick accelerations kill gas mileage. But they sure can be fun.

Trying to get higher fuel economy numbers is a different game. It can be fun, just not as adrenaline-charged as going fast. I find it an interesting challenge.

I have had 3 tanks over 500 miles in my '10 R55 S auto. I was on the highway with cruise in light to medium traffic at or below 80. I regularly get 350-400 mile tanks with city and highway mixed traffic. 2nd cat and resonator removed got my almost 2 mpgs.

I never got that good on my R56, maybe an occasional 400 mile tank on the highway and 320-350 in town. (unmodified)

it's all about how and where you drive

i went 411 miles in my 2012 cms all4 and used only 9.8 gals ... that's 41.9 mpg

that was a fillup right next to an i-state onramp, 55 mph on cruise the whole way and fillup right next to the offramp

normal everyday driving, i see 28-29 mpg

scott

Can't change where I drive, Don't want to change how I drive (too much fun)

I can try having the resonator & 2nd cat removed! Didn't realize they were heavy &/or restrictive enough to net 2mpg

I didn't either. I only did it for more noise. I enjoy the netted MPGs. I didn't see it for the first few tanks because I was nailing it to hear the new noise

Two weeks ago I got 632.5 miles on a tank of gas, with 18 miles left on the computer. I drove across Michigan's Upper Peninsula from St. Ignace to Copper Harbor, drove around Copper Harbor a bit (I was there two days) and drove back to St. Ignace before filling up. The Upper Peninsula is 55 mph. I set my cruise to 60, drove with the windows and sunroof open, and the music blasting. Computer said 49.4 mpg. I have a 2012 "Justa" with a manual transmission. When I drive on highways I tend to go around 80...but milage drops off quite a bit.

Sounds like my old 08' MC. I went up north and got 628 miles on the tank, she was good to me. You should step off the gas a little more, you'd be surprised how much on a tank you'd get;-)

It's amazing the fuel difference between 70 and 80, and then to run some time above 100, closer to 130 will really suck the fuel. Pushing that much air out of the way really requires a lot more power and therefor more fuel burn.

Not saying I have ever burnt a tank of fuel at 130 but at or slightly above 100 mph the car went through all but 50-60 miles left of range in 260 or so miles

Just barely got 500 miles with this last tank. Mostly because of a very "spirited" run up to Alice's Restaurant in the foothills with one of the local Porsche clubs.

I first got the two red carrots at 497 miles, but then the display went back to three orange carrots. (The warning was still on, though.) The carrots finally went back to red for real at about 510 miles, and I filled at 513, putting 12.7 gallons in.

It was only a 40 MPG tank. I suppose I can live with that, though!
