R56 500 Mile Club
Back in 2010
Looked at my gas mileage logs and found one. I made it a challenge (mostly to fight boredom) on a drive from Eugene to San Francisco to make it in one tank.
2008 MCS, 527 miles, 13.555 gallons, 1 bathroom break.

this is my first post in a few years ...haven't been on the site for a long time, but still very much enjoying my 2008 MCS (w/ many custom mods).
Yes, I have broken the 500mile on a tank mark several times too.
After 7 years of ownership I still love my MINI and can't think of another car that I'd want to replace it with.

Bummer, only hit 490 miles this tank. Didn't even make 40 MPG, either! It went to 2 red carrots at 471, then back to three amber ones until 483. Probably fuel slosh or some such. I've let my maximum speeds creep up, and I did a couple of trips up the mountain to my folks' place. One of them was pushing pretty hard, too.
Oh well, I can work on getting the MPGs back on this next tank!

Only a bit over 40 MPG for the last few tanks. (But all were over 500 miles!) This last tank went for just over a month! Part of that was borrowing Da Boss' car for a couple-few days, but part is just driving fewer miles. Not sure if I'll wind up back on the every-three-week type schedule or not.
I finally did a 501 after a nice long drive home from a road tour to the Keweenaw Peninsula. When I filled up, it read 0 miles to go, and it took 14.3 gallons to fill, so I was about done. My mileage was thus 35 mpg, in mixed conditions, but mostly a highway tour at about 60, very gas friendly. Mine is a non S, Justa Clubman, automatic tranny.
I endured a little suspense just to get the 500... silly but fun :-)

My best tank was a trip to/from the Keweenaw Peninsula too. I posted in this forum on 7-22-2013, but went from St. Ignace to Copper Harbor and back on a tank of gas. 632.5 miles...it helps that its 55 mph the whole way. I put it on cruise at 60, had the windows and sunroof open the whole way, and enjoyed the views of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior.
Will be making a long road trip soon...SoCal to Colorado, then to Utah, back home through Arizona. I will see if I can stay off of the gas, stay out of the turbo, and set the cruise at 65 or so. Sport mode or not? That is the question.....
Out of the club again. I filled early, because I was at three "carrots" and was heading up the hill, which is somewhat fuel-use-intensive, and doesn't have any gas stations on it.
Got about 42 MPG for the tank, though, so I won't complain too loudly.

I'm going to see if I can hit it this weekend. Got a trip to Stowe for the British Invasion taking up 350+ miles. Last time I went I made it through NYC and up to Bridgeport from Long Island hovering around 420 on my miles until empty reading the whole way, then it started going down.
Still out of the club. :( Lots of A/C use, plus extra puttering around in 1st gear, brought my mileage down. I didn't even break 40 MPG.
Oh well, this current tank seems to be a lot better so far.

500 mile club-Finally!
Just joined the 500 mile club! 2011 MCS manual, 48k. Vernal, Utah to Tuba City, Arizona, speeds about 70-75, Sport mode off. I hit Tuba City at about 498, and drove around some to make the official 500 before fueling up. That one last little red angry candy-corn stared at me for about the last 50 miles of the trip. I still had a range of 47 miles, but was not willing to push it any further! Took 14.1 gallons to fill. I averaged 34.8 MPG over my trip from SoCal to Dinosaur, Colorado, and back home through Vernal, Utah and Gilbert, Arizona. 2057 miles, mostly speed limit or 5 above, Sport mode off, A/C on most of the way. I did engage in some spirited driving along the way, but tried to limit that. There is NO WAY I will EVER see 500 miles on a tank again, until I do another long road trip. Maybe I will shoot for 550 next time.....
