Two ways to tell your mileage:
- There is a "trip MPG" readout in the tach. Press the button on the turn signal stalk enough times and it will show up. I forget how that is reset, though.
- Calculate it yourself. Reset your trip odometer when you fill up. Then on the next fill-up, take the trip odometer reading (Miles) and divide by how much fuel it took to re-fill the tank (Gallons). Divide the Miles by the Gallons, and that's MPG.

 

Got down to two red carrots this evening, at 489 miles. Drove home, still have two red carrots, and at 500+ now.

Fenimore really responds well to pulse and glide.

 

On the two road trips I've gone on (with longer highway portions) I haven't been able to hit 500. Best I've done is 450 and I'm blown away by those who get to fill their tanks for $35. Maybe I need to steer clear of the Appalachians before I can say its not possible! I'll have to think of a fun summer trip.

 

For long trips, just set the cruise control for 60 MPH and you should break 500 miles easily.

 

Remember you are running a Cooper. You can get 500 anyday. Us S people have to pay for our performance choice so 500 miles is a little difficult. Though you are right about cruise control at 60 will net you some high mileage. I normally get about 32 to 34 at 70 mph. I have never gone slower then that on the freeway for fear of getting run over by these psychos in Florida in their SUVs cruising at between 80 and 120. No lie about that speed either. I was cruise one day and can tell you when I got pasted the guy was going well over a 100.

 

I seem to really only get 30-31, but I don't suppose its that far off pace to worry. We'll see once I do a road trip through less hilly/mountainous portions of the US.

 

Just remember the biggest thing about getting great gas mileage in a Turbo charged car is staying out of boost.

Also I did get 501 on a tri-city road trip to get my new dog.
In the city if I'm out of heavy traffic I do between 410-460.
I went on a 400 mile drive with the local MINI club and got 454 with A LOT of spirited driving and the last 40 in the city.

 

Got down to two "carrots" last night on my way home. At 520 miles on the trip odometer. The "miles to empty" readout thought I still had 98 more miles in the tank.

I'll probably fill up tomorrow on my way home from work. I'm estimating it will be a little over 40 MPG for this tank.

 

Put 13.6 gallons in at 579.9 miles. A bit over 42 MPG that tank.

 

Damn your goal should be to get 600 miles.

I was impressed when I broke 6ooKM on my '12MCS... That being said, I am a city driver - virtually no highway driving at normal-ish speeds.

Headed off on a freeway trip today. Went 35 miles out and 45 miles back (different route to avoid a bridge toll). Got 48 MPG on the way out, and 52 MPG on the way back.

When I started out, I had about 40 miles on the tank, and the miles-to-go readout said 480 miles. When I got home, I had about 120 miles on the tank, and the miles-to-go readout said 510 miles. So I gained 30 miles range in 80 miles of driving.

Depending on how things go in the next couple of weeks, this might actually hit the 600-mile mark.

 

I missed the 600 mile mark. Mostly because of external constraints that forced me to fill earlier than I would have preferred. I was still at two red carrots on the gauge, with an indicated 80 or so miles of range left. 581 miles this tank; 600 would have been reached tomorrow evening but I would not have been able to fill at that point.

Still, I averaged 44.5 MPG for the tank, which ain't bad!

 

Got the 600 miler today! It "booped" on me yesterday at 546 miles to let me know it was down to two carrots. Today, it's at one carrot, the miles-to-go readout says ~50 miles left, and the trip odometer is reading just over 600 miles. It actually went back to two carrots right after hitting 600, but that's because I was stopped pointing uphill at the end of an off-ramp. (Waiting for a light.)

Fill either tonight or tomorrow, I'll know what the actual MPG is then.

 

I have been getting a steady 33mpg here lately which is putting me in the high 400s for miles on the trip meter. I could strect 500 now but Things happen and I end up screwing up my mileage.

 

618.5 miles. The miles-to-go readout showed 27 miles when I filled it. For about the last 10 miles, the low-fuel warnings got pretty annoying. I don't think I'll let it get to that point again without a specific reason.

I put about 14 gallons in, for a total of just over 44 MPG this tank. I say "about" because the pump's automatic shut-off didn't. So somewhere between a tenth and a quarter of a gallon wound up on the ground... Grr...

 

580 miles on just under 13 gallons. Just got down to the two-carrot mark. I figure I'll probably hit 600 next tank again as the engine continues to loosen up.

Nice!! I'm hoping I can get there sometime soon, but I kind of doubt it.

 

Hit 500 miles just after I got down to 3 carrots left. I probably won't hit 600 miles before hitting the red carrots. I'm not sure if I'll fill before 600 miles or not, this time.

 

Got to 570 before the carrots went red. They went back to three orange for a bit after that warning, which I saw starting the car on a very up-hill parking space, but the "!" triangle still stayed and I got the warning on a re-start. Filled up at 582 (still with two red carrots), for 45 MPG. Not too bad.

 

Once again, 570 (and a bit) miles when the carrots went red.

 

520 miles, with four carrots lit! Had some very good days where my average was over 50 MPG, plus a nice trip down to Monterey and back over the weekend with Da Wife.
