R56 500 Mile Club
I won't hit the 500 mile mark on my first fill (which will be in the next few days), but I certainly hope that I'll hit it before too long...
I can't even begin to imagine how boring hypermiling must be...
Not MINI related, but I saw a TOP GEAR show where Jeremy drove 1000 miles on 1 tank. Granted it was a BIG Audi diesel, but... London to Edinburgh and back... He looks mostly bored...

It is a challenge. It can be boring but, I am thinking of the end game when I do it. Also that was a one time deal(well I have tried before), most of the time I fill up once a week. Ya I was not filling up this often when I had my Sonoma or my Spec V.
Sure you weren't filling up as often, but you also weren't motoring! Prior to my MINI it was just horrible driving to work...now driving...err...motoring is is a joy!
Oh you have no idea about my Spec V. That is a close second compared to the MINI. It wasn't getting as good gas mileage but it was just has fast and handled just as well and was modified almost as much as the MINI.
Depends on what exactly you're doing. If you're really working it, you are constantly paying attention to everything all around you, trying to anticipate anything happening that you might have to react to so you can react to it early. You're trying to manage your car's momentum at all times. You're paying (some) attention to the exact load you're putting on the engine. You're looking for slight uphills and downhills. And so on.
It's not generally exciting, except when you go around a turn you don't want to slow down for first. But then, exciting is often a bad thing on the road, because it seems like it usually involves other cars attempting to occupy the same space as mine.
But it's certainly not boring when you get into it.

If you believe the range gauge (the "miles to go" function in the tach), I'll make it with room to spare on this second tank. I'm at ~200 miles on the tank, and the gauge tells me I have ~450 more miles I can go without refilling. I think it's a wee bit optimistic, but I'd be surprised if I couldn't hit 500 miles this tank.
And it's only the second tank!

On my trip back from South Carolina 2 weeks ago...I filled up in Savana, GA and got back to Ft Myers with 464 miles on the trip and the computer saying I had 41 more miles left on my tank. Not sure but sure does beat my LS2 motor in my previous Trailblazer SS that only got 15 miles to the gallon on the highway.
Ya that is one of the best things you can do to improve your mileage. Keeping the tires inflated properly will keep the mpg as close to if not better then what the estimated mpg for the car is.
Just hit 500 miles when getting home last night. The fuel readout went down to 2 carrots when I drove out to lunch yesterday, so I was about 10-15 under 500 when I got the two-red-carrot "bong".
This is when I got to work this morning, 511.6 miles:

And my two red carrots, together with the 50 more miles that Fenimore thinks he can travel:

I'll fill today or tomorrow most likely, and that will let me calculate the actual MPG from miles traveled and gallons filled.

Another 500 mile tank, filled Sunday. I averaged just over 40 MPG on that one.
Now that I have over 1500 miles, I may be visiting the red-line a bit more. But I'm hoping to still stay in the 500 mile club.

I got 540 miles out of a tank. About 30 of those miles were city, and the rest were about 70 cruise control on the highway. My first road trip in the MINI... and I was very very impressed!

On an "S"? I would be lucky to get 400 going down hill with a wind pushing.....
I didn't really even try to get good MPG.. I was cruise controlling it at 70 and was averaging 39 mpg according to my OBC and 41 according to my calculator.
I have a picture somewhere that I took at the gas station when I was filling up, I might be able to find it somewhere.
I really didn't even try and got about 450 over the past turkey week mostly highway doing around 80ish the whole time. 400 should be easy (unless your trying to enjoy yourself on back roads that is).
I might get 30mpg on the highway. 30 X 13.2=396. And thats if I squeeze every last ounce of fuel out. Around town I get 26/27. And its worse the colder it gets. Dealer says "thats about right". Funny, thats not what my window sticker said. Not even close. But its ok, I have fun with me car.
I've got a 2011 MCS
Dood I have gotten 500 miles out of a tank of gas and my best friend did the same. It is completely possible. Stay out of boost or cruise at a steady speed
