well it's more than possible . definitely agree that you can't exactly drive how you want to... but i got some amazing milage out of cruise control between 65 and 70 mph...Tortie turned me on to this thread so i started doing a eco run on my last tank of gas, normally i get 300miles out of a hard driving tank... 375 normally, but... just filled up a little over an hour ago and this is a 90% highway run.. took pictures of trip computer and gas gauge to give ideas of how i was doing... i didn't get the picture ideas till 4 bars were gone but... here's the trip.....

that's at the end of thanksgiving driving from monday through thursday night... then this is this morning....

and i forgot to take the picture but this is at the gas station filling up from empty (ergo the 4 bars suddenly) but the milage didn't change from when i pulled up since i obviously didn't move :P

SO WOOOT FOR 500+ MILES TO A 13 GAL TANK!!!! actually it was just 12.735 gallons :P i'll get a picture of my last gas slip if anyone woudl like hahaha

Has anyone tried using the Sport Button for a full tank to see if the millage changes? I plan to try it, but if someone else has already, I would be interested in the results.

Hokay, so now I have two goals. 1. Try to see if I can get 500 to a tank and 2. See if my mileage worsens if I use the sport button. I'll have to try the latter first because If I wait until I get 500 to a tank, I may never get to try with the sport button.

Oh, and I'm still jealous, dunphyj.

In the last picture at 535 miles you are back up to four lights showing. I was with you up to that point.

As he said, he took that picture while he was filling his car at the gas station before he reset the trip (the reason for the 4 candy corns).

So he did. Sorry, I completely missed that. Thanks.

I ran a test today and am confused. I hit sport mode and ran a six mile road I do almost every day. I had the live mpg read out on and got 32 to 36 mpg. I went back and did it again, without sport mode, and got 40 to 42 mpg. I then hit a long section where it is just cruising and found little difference being in sport or not as far as mpg went. When crusing, sport mode means little, as you are just maintaining a regular speed, but it does seem to use more fuel when yu use the throttle.

Now here is my confusion. I thought when you checked the mpg at the end of a trip you got the average for the whole trip. What I found was it seems to tell you what the mpg was just before you stopped. I was getting 42/43 until I came to a long down hill run with a turn into the parking lot. As I coasted the MPG went up to 45.6. When I shut the car off and then checked the computer, it gave me 45.6. It seems to give you what ever you were getting just prior to stopping. Is this correct?

I would like to let everyone know that I made the 500 mile club today.
The obc was a little gracious but I was making 35.5mpg with an Alta Stage 3 tune. Granted I was super hyper mileage.

I'm having a hard time seeing this one..........That would be an average of 43.5 MPG on an entire 13.1 tank of gas. Is this one of those JustaCoopers with the JCW kit that a few people have?

Did you notice how much gas I put in my car when I filled up? A little past the 13.1 line.

I'm hoping to make this club officially tomorrow, except I've been commuting in stop & go for the whole tank... Hope I make it to gas station!

Funny thing is I saw I had a chance 30 miles ago and really took it easy on the way home today - my MPG went from 34.8 to 35.3 in those 30 miles.

I blame it on the automatic transmission.

Ya auto can definitely screw you on gas mileage. I just didn't realize it was that much.

I'm going to have a hard time to even consider attempting the 500 Mile Club! I'm having too much fun speeding and can't seem to stop myself, though possibly a long boring drive would add a challenge but I'm always to eager to get out of the car or get off the highway onto fun roads at that point!

Yeah - I think most are like schatzy and smarter than me - it's really not a great idea to run the tank that low. I've done it a handful of times with no issues, but you're just asking for trouble.

It was a challenge for me - commuting in stop and go traffic for 500 miles and staying off the gas around here can be tough. I also noticed how much better the mileage gets when the engine's all warmed up - quite a difference.

I wonder if on a road-trip, flying solo and doing the speed limit - can I get 600 miles out of a tank.
